Surveillance Drive by Health Department

Chandigarh, 1 st  December, 2016:   Today 1 fresh case of Dengue has been reported and the total number of Dengue cases remained 875 in the city. Today 4 cases of Chikungunya have been reported out of which all are from Chandigarh. The overall details of 286 cases of Chikungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 46 imported, 55 wrong address and 185 from Chandigarh. To further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out alongwith strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources. 

Animal Ambulance for small /pet animals

Chandigarh, 1 st  December, 2016:  The Residents and Pet Owners of ‘City Beautiful’ will be provided with animal care facility by the Department of Animal Husbandry, U.T. Chandigarh that will start the services of Animal Ambulance for small /pet animals from 1 st   December 2016. The Animal Ambulance will cater to the needs of transportation of sick & injured animals for treatment to nearby Government Veterinary Hospitals, which is started under MPLAD Scheme. This state of the Art Ambulance will operate at a nominal fare of Rs 300/- per to-and-fro trip i.e from the house of caller to nearest hospital and return. The ambulance is equipped with first aid and emergency medication and will be given under the supervision of Para-Veterinary staff.   The ambulance will reach at the doorstep of sick animal, take it to the nearest Government Veterinary Hospital, and even drop it back at the owner’s house after treatment. World AIDS day celebrations in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 1 st Dec, 2016: World AIDS day is celebrated on 1st Dec. every year since 1988. This day provides an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the cause of HIV prevention & treatment, draw attention about HIV epidemic around the world, to raise awareness about HIV, to remember those who have died, to show solidarity with people living with HIV, to celebrate survival and health. The day is associated with the Red Ribbon, an instantly recognizable symbol indicating support to the cause. The theme for World AIDS Day 2016 is “ Hands Up for HIV Prevention’ . Although we are near the goal, still the challenge is there to ensure that all those who are living with HIV get to know their status and avail treatment services. Chandigarh Attains Universal Aadhaar Saturation

Chandigarh, 30 th  November, 2016: Adding a feather to its cap, Chandigarh has achieved the distinction of being the first UT (without legislation) in the country to attain universal Aadhaar saturation . As against the estimated population (year 2015) of 11,15,584 as of now 11,15,817 residents of Chandigarh have acquired Aadhaar . The population of Chandigarh as per census 2011 is 10,54,686 . With this Chandigarh has become the first UT (without legislation) in the country to achieve 100 % Aadhaar Saturation.
