Completion of Marathon/Relay Walk cum Cycle Tour from Delhi to Chandigarh for creating awareness about fundamental duties

  Chandigarh.12 th December,2019. Under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, the State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh organized the last leg of Marathon/Relay Walk cum Cycle Tour to celebrate 70th Anniversary   of adoption of Indian Constitution   and for creating awareness about the Fundamental Duties among the citizens. A team of about 6 advocates from Delhi had started on 7th December from Delhi and after passing through Haryana and Punjab, the participants entered Chandigarh today from Zirakpur.   On reaching Chandigarh, they were joined by advocates practicing at Chandigarh, Para Legal Volunteers, students and other sports enthusiast.   It was flagged off by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jaswant Singh, Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Bird Disease Surveillance and monitoring started in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 11 December,2019 :The Department of Animal Husbandry launched active surveillance & monitoring programme in Sukhna & Dhanas lake to combat any ingression of disease in birds. The team of officials of Animal Husbandry Department, U.T. Chandigarh have collected 25 samples of migratory birds at Sukhna & Dhanas lake, 55 samples of backyard poultry in the villages and 25 samples of birds from commercial Poultry Farms. The samples have been sent to RDDL Jalandhar for disease investigation if any. This was stated by Dr. Kanwarjit Singh, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry, Chandigarh here today. Commemorating Pierre Jeanneret’s 52nd Death Anniversary- Inauguration of Sukhna Interpretation Centre

Chandigarh, 4th December 2019: The sculptural Pump House of the Sukhna Lake was recently repaired and restored and an interpretation Centre dedicated to the Sukhna Lake has been established in this landmark structure of the Lake. Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh inaugurated the centre in the presence of senior officers and eminent architects of the city to commemorate the 52nd Death Anniversary of Pierre Jeanneret. The proposal for setting up this centre was mooted by Deepika Gandhi, Director Le Corbusier Centre in May this year during a presentation to the Mr Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh on the various issues that need to be addressed at the Sukhna Lake and its precincts. Chandigarh, 4th December 2019: A meeting was held in UT Secretariat today under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh in the presence of Sh. Arun Goel, IAS, Secretary Culture, Government of India, Sh. Vikas Partap, IAS, Secretary Culture, Government of Punjab and other UT officers were present. Sports Department Standing Committee of Administrator Advisory Council meeting held

Chandigarh, 29th November 2019: The Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration held the first meeting of Standing Committee of Administrator Advisory Council under the chairmanship of Sh. Sanjay Tandon, Chairman of the committee and President of Bhartiya Janta Party at UT Guest House today. During the meeting the committee members highlighted on key aspects like the infrastructure of Sports Department, human resource, policies on scholarships, cash awards, gradation, annual sports calendar. The Director Sports apprised the committee about the achievements of the academies. He also informed about the working of Sports Hostel in Sector 18 and 42. The committee also deliberated on the suggestions and feedback of the members.

Pension Week celebrated in Chandigarh

Rebuttal on Press Reports w.r.t. Sukhna Lake

Chandigarh.29 November, 2019.There have been Reports in the press clippings of few newspapers on dated 26.11.2019 regarding declaring of Sukhna as Wetland in the year 1988 wherein it was stated that Sukhna is declared as ‘Wetland’ by the Chandigarh Administration in the year 1988 itself and the Chandigarh Administration was not aware of it and is planning to notify it again. It is hereby clarified that Sukhna Lake is in the process of being notified as ‘Wetland’ under the Wetlands (Conservation & Management) Rules, 2017 notified by the Government of India under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. The draft notification declaring Sukhna as Wetland along with all Prohibited/Regulated/Promoted activities is  now under public domain for inviting feedback from various stakeholders.
