Meeting held by Additional Chief Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh regarding General Elections to Lok Sabha-2019

Chandigarh, 18 th  January, 2019:  A meeting was held today under the Chairmanship of Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Additional Chief Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh, with the representatives of Political Parties to discuss SVEEP activities (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation), polling station locations and take suggestions from them on how to increase voter turnout during the General Elections to Lok Sabha-2019. The main areas of focus during the meeting were Electoral Roll Management, EVM/VVPAT and ways to achieve informed, ethical and enhanced participation of citizens in the upcoming elections.  During the meeting, Sh. Anemia Mukt Bharat

Chandigarh, 14 th  January, 2019:  On the occasion of National Dietetics Day with the theme of  “Anemia Mukt Bharat” , Dietetics Department in association with Blood Bank, GMSH-16, Chandigarh organized a Blood Donation camp today.  The aim to celebrate the day was to generate awareness regarding anemia in the society. India is one of the countries with high prevalence of anemia in the world. Nutritional anemia is a major public health problem in India and is primarily due to Iron deficiency. Dietetics Department stressed on the role of diet to improve the iron status. Iron rich recipe brochures and diet chart to curb anemia were distributed to patients during the camp. Donors were provided with gift hampers containing energy and protein rich dietary supplements.  To detect the donors eligibility for blood donation, haemogram and weight of all candidates were checked.
