Health Department, Chandigarh starts orientation of health functionaries on Rotavirus vaccine

Chandigarh, 27th June, 2019: Training of Health Functionaries on Rotavirus vaccine has been started today at State Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Government Multispecialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh. The participants of the training were Medical Officers, LHVs and ANMs. Training of zone one and two has been completed today with station sessions where the participants were divided into 4 groups of equal members to make the sessions more interactive.  Health Department, UT Chandigarh is going to introduce Rotavirus vaccine (RVV) in Routine Immunization Schedule from July, 2019 onwards. Rotavirus vaccine will be provided free of cost under Universal Immunization Programme (UIP). It has been in use by private practitioners for several years. Rotavirus is a highly contagious virus and makes thousands of babies and young children sick every year. “The Punjab Protection of Medical Services Persons and Medicare Services Institutions (Preventions of Violence and Damage of Property)” Act 2008- Adoption in U.T. Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 24 th June 2019:  The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sh.V.P. Singh Badnore Hon’ble Governor of Punjab cum Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh with the President & representatives of the Indian Medical Association, Chandigarh Chapter in the presence of Principal Secretary Home cum Health Secretary, Director General of Police and Director Health Services, U.T. Chandigarh. The following recommendations were accepted:- The Punjab Protection of Medical Services Persons and Medicare Services Institutions (Preventions of Violence and Damage of Property)” Act 2008 will be recommended to the Ministry of Home, Govt. of India for its approval and applicability in U.T. Chandigarh as such.  The Govt. of Punjab will be asked to examine the feasibility for enhancement of punishment under the above act from 1 to 3 years.
