Chandigarh, 27th June, 2019: Training of Health Functionaries on Rotavirus vaccine has been started today at State Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Government Multispecialty Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh. The participants of the training were Medical Officers, LHVs and ANMs. Training of zone one and two has been completed today with station sessions where the participants were divided into 4 groups of equal members to make the sessions more interactive. Health Department, UT Chandigarh is going to introduce Rotavirus vaccine (RVV) in Routine Immunization Schedule from July, 2019 onwards. Rotavirus vaccine will be provided free of cost under Universal Immunization Programme (UIP). It has been in use by private practitioners for several years. Rotavirus is a highly contagious virus and makes thousands of babies and young children sick every year.
