Chandigarh, 5 th October, 2016: A workshop on Food Safety Awareness for Food Business Operator dealing in business of sweets manufacturing, wholesale/ retail sale, Dhaba Walas was organised today at Village Daria by the Department of Food Safety and Standards, Chandigarh Administration. Food Business Operators were made aware about various provisions of Food Law and were guided how to maintain good hygiene and sanitation in the workplace. They were also told: 1.       To get Food License from the department. 2.      Not to use synthetic colour in food articles 3.      Use only silver leaves in the decoration of sweets. 4.      Use good quality of edible oil 5.      Workers must wear proper caps and aprons. 6.     Cover all prepared sweets with proper net. 7.      Use potable water for the preparation of sweets. 8.   ...

Chandigarh, 5 th Oct, 2016: Taking a serious note of publications in various media as well as calls received on helpline number, Malaria wing has stepped up surveillance in the city under which a special drive was conducted today  at Bhaskar Colony and Kumhar Colony sector 25 and sector 40 Chandigarh. One team was led by Assistant Director Malaria at Bhaskar Colony and other team was led by Anti Malaria Officer Chandigarh at sector 40.Under this drive house to house visits were made. 8 challans and 20 notices has been issued. It was observed that inspite of repeated notices to general public, coolers and containers are not cleaned.  Littering of garbage by general public is  posing a potential threat for growth of mosquito.  Yesterday fogging was done at Sector 40 A, 39 C and D and 38 W.Today fogging will be done at Punjab University, Bhaskar Colony sector 25 and Sector 61 Chandigarh. Chandigarh, 4 th October, 2016: A press conference was held today at the U.T. Guest House regarding the upcoming Chandigarh Arts & Heritage Festival 2016 to be held from 6 th to 9 th October, 2016. Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Director Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration appraised the media during the conference on the various events to be held during the festival.
