Chandigarh, 18 th May, 2017: In accordance with the provisions mentioned under section 4 (1) of the "Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007 as extended to UT Chandigarh" issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India , the Administrator, UT Chandigarh is pleased to appoint the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh as implementing authority for municipal area and the Deputy Commissioner/Sub Divisional Magistrates as implementing authorities in their respective jurisdictions for the composition of offences.

Food Safety Officers Conducted Raid at Grain Market Sector-26

Chandigarh, 16 th  May, 2017:   In view of the ongoing summer season artificial ripening of fruits like mango, papaya with calcium carbide is common practice adopted by various Food Business Operators. The use of which is prohibited for ripening of fruits under the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. The ripened fruits with the above said chemical cause serious health problems. Looking into the seriousness of the matter the Food Safety Officers i. Sh. Bharat Kanojia, Sh. Surinder Pal Singh, Sh. Bhaljinder Singh, Mrs. Mandeep Kaur, Mrs. Nisha Juneja, Ms. Navneet Bagga and Ms. Amardeep Kaur in early hours conducted a massive raid in the area of Grain Market, Sector-26, Chandigarh as directed by the designated Officer, Food Safety Administration, Chandigarh.   Chandigarh, 16 th  May, 2017:   In Pursuance of order of the Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court passed in CWP NO. 20359 of 2013 Court on its own motion Vs. State of Punjab and others, the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh is pleased to appoint Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration as Nodal Officer to coordinate with  the different departments of the Union Territory, Chandigarh in respect of the cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. 

Customary fire safety audit to be conducted by Chandigarh Administration

Chandigarh, 15th May, 2017:  To carry out a systematic, critical appraisal of all potential Fire hazards involving personnel, premises, services and operational, the Chief Engineer, UT Chandigarh along with the Chandigarh Fire Department has been ordered to conduct a customary fire safety audit on priority basis in all the important buildings & institutions of the Chandigarh Administration. Preventive measures will be taken under this audit to evaluate the adequacy of the Fire detection and alarm systems installed in the premises and availability of emergency preparedness plan as per the relevant standards.

Raid Conducted in Sector-26 Mandi

Chandigarh, 15th May, 2017:   Under the supervision of Dr. Tapasya Raghav, IAS, SDM (E), Chandigarh Administration a polythene raid was conducted in Sector -26 mandi along with Sanitary Inspectors. 9 challans of Rs. 5000 and 14 challan of Rs 500 were Issued to the defaulters and plastic products near about 55kg were seized.

28th Northern Zonal Council Meet held at Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 12 th  May, 2017:  The Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Sh. Rajnath Singh chaired the 28th Meeting of the Northern Zonal Council comprising of the States of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Punjab, Rajasthan, NCT of Delhi and UT of Chandigarh today   in Chandigarh at Hotel Taj.   The meeting was held in the presence of Sh. VP Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor Punjab and Administrator U.T Chandigarh, Hon'ble Chief Ministers and Ministers of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Lt.
