Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development

Chandigarh, 29th April, 2016: The Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh is pleased to change the nomenclature of the post of Secretary Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration to that of Secretary Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration, and rename the Department of Social Welfare as “ Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development” with immediate effect.

Chandigarh Food Articles ( Licensing and Control) Order

Chandigarh, 29th April, 2016: In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 (10 of 1955) and in view of Removal of ( Licensing requirements, Stock limits and Movement Restrictions) on Specified Foodstuffs Order, 2002, as issued by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Consumer Affairs) vide order no. G.S.R.104(E), dated 15.02.2002, the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh is hereby pleased to repeal the Chandigarh Food Articles ( Licensing and Control) Order 1991, published in the Extra Ordinary Gazette of Union Territory, Chandigarh vide No. DFSO-CH-12/91-4065 dated 04.09.1991, with immediate effect.

Encroachment Drive in East Jurisdiction

Chandigarh, 28 th April, 2016: Under the aegis of Sh. Bhupesh Chaudhary, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (East), a n anti-encroachment drive was conducted on 27.04.2016 by the Enforcement team, in the market of sec-29 and sec 30, Chandigarh. During the anti encroachment drive 40 challans were issued against the defaulter shopkeepers.

Launch of Toll Free Number 1800-180-2054

Chandigarh, 28 th April, 2016: The Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, today launched the Toll-Free Number 1800-180-2054 at the UT Secretariat, Chandigarh. The Toll-Free number has been created by the Zila Sainik Welfare Board to redress the grievances of serving and retired soldiers from any part of the country, which relate to the Chandigarh Administration. Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, President, Zila Sainik Board, during the launch shared that the Toll-Free number has been launched for easing up the process of grievance registration and reddressal for ex-servicemen, serving soldiers and their widows/wards, so that they can call on this number and register their complaints pertaining to any department of the Chandigarh Administration. State Bank of Patiala Launches New Pedal Boats in Collaboration with CITCO

Chandigarh, April 27, 2016:  State Bank of Patiala in collaboration with CITCO launched 40 new pedal boats for leisure boating at Sukhna Lake today. The new boats were handed over in a ceremony for overall promotion of boating tourism in Chandigarh. Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Home secretary, UT, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. Raid in East Jurisdiction

 Chandigarh, 26th April, 2016:   On 25.04.2016, under the aegis of Sh. Bhupesh Chaudhary, IAS, Sub- Divisional Magistrate (East), a team of Sanitary Inspectors conducted a raid on traders of polythene bags in Industrial Area ph- II, Chandigarh and seized / destroyed two quintals of polythene.  On 26.04.2016, again SDM(East) and a team of Sanitary Inspectors raided Apni Mandi sector- 29, Chandigarh and seized 10 Kg polythene bags and issued 14 challans.  Today  an anti encroachment drive was also conducted by Enforcement team under the guidance of Sh. Bhupesh Chaudhary, IAS, SDM (East), in Electronics market sector-18 where the shopkeepers have encroached corridors in front of their shops and issued 45 challans against the erring shopkeepers. Sh. Meeting Held To Discuss Arrangements for International Yoga Day

Chandigarh, 26th April, 2016: A meeting was held today at U.T. guest house under the chairmanship of Sh. Ajit M. Sharan, Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Ayush to discuss the arrangements to be made for International Yoga day to be celebrated at City Beautiful, Chandigarh which has already been selected for the event. E-auction of vehicle registration numbers

Chandigarh, 26 th April, 2016: It is for the information of the general public/residents of Chandigarh that registration for participating in e-auction of vehicle registration numbers of new series "CH01BG" for special/choice registration numbers 0001 to 9999 has been started from 26.04.2016 (10:00 AM) and will continue till 02.05.2016 (05:00 PM) and the e-auction will start on 03.05.2016 (10:00 AM) and will continue till 05.05.2016 (05:00PM). Chandigarh Housing Board Gets HUDCO Award

Chandigarh, 25th April, 2016: Chandigarh Housing Board has been awarded with HUDCO award for best practices to improve the living environment 2015-2016 under the category of ‘Housing, Urban Poverty and Infrastructure’.  The award has been received by Sh. Maninder Singh, IAS Chairman CHB on 25.4.2016 during the function held at India Habitat Center, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The award comprises of Momento and a cheque amounting to Rs.1.00 lacks.  The award was given by Dr. M. Ravikanth, IAS, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, HUDCO.  The function was presided over by Sh. Introduction of IPV (inactivated polio virus) vaccine

Chandigarh, 24 th   April 2016:    Department of Health and Family Welfare is going to introduce IPV (inactivated polio virus) vaccine in immunization schedule in U.T. Chandigarh from 25 th   April 2016. As one of its four major objectives, the  Polio Eradication and Endgame Strategic Plan 2013-2018  calls on countries to introduce at least 1 dose of inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) into routine immunization schedules, strengthen routine immunization and withdraw oral polio vaccine (OPV) in a phased manner.     According to Dr Vanita Gupta, Director Health Services, Chandigarh has achievedgood Immunization coverage through Universal Immunization Programme*. Launch of 'Gramoday Se Bharat Uday Campaign' on the occasion of 'Rashtriya Panchayati Raj Diwas'

Chandigarh, 24 th April 2016:  The Chandigarh Administration with huge fervor has celebrated the 125 th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with a series of events conducted throughout the city . Every day a short film on the life, contribution and achievements of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was organized for the people of various villages of Chandigarh. In the memory of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar the Government of India has proposed to undertake a “Gramoday se Bharat Uday Abhiyan” in all the Gram Panchayats and Gram Sabhas of the country. The objective of the Abhiyan is to encourage Social hormony, promote farmers’ progress, improve livelihoods of the poor and strengthen Panchayati Raj system by educating them about the various initiatives/programmes/schemes undertaken by the Government.
