Chandigarh, 2 nd Dec, 2016: The half yearly Cost of Living Index Numbers of Chandigarh Centre (Base 2001 = 100) for industrial workers, issued by Labour Department U.T Chandigarh   for the months of April, 2016, to September, 2016 are 1399.16, 1414.94, 1414.94, 1430.72, 1430.72 and 1430.72 respectively.  Thus the average (calculated for six months) cost of living index numbers as on 30.09.2016 is 1420. The previous average cost of living index numbers was 1373 points for the quarter ending 31.03.2016. Therefore, increase in average cost of living index number is 47 points. The per point neutralization in minimum rates of wages for monthly rated employees under the Minimum Wages Act is Rs. 7/-. Thus minimum rates of wages for each category of employees have been increased by Rs. 329/- p.m. on the increase of 47 points.              The following are the minimum rates of wages payable for monthly and daily ...

Chandigarh, 2 nd Dec, 2016: Today 1 fresh case of Dengue has been reported (till the release of press note) and the total number of Dengue cases remained 876 in the city. Today 1 case of Chikungunya have been reported which was from Chandigarh. The overall details of 287 cases of Chikungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 46 imported, 55 wrong address and 186 from Chandigarh. To further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out alongwith strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources.
