French delegation meets Adviser; appreciates Smart City projects in City

Chandigarh, 31st January 2019: A Joint Working Group (JWG) of Sustainable Urban Development, 2019(delegation) from France led by Mr. Olivier Robinet, Deputy Director of the International Division at MEST-MTCRLA met  Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh and the team of officers of Chandigarh Smart City Ltd at UT Secretariat today. The Adviser welcomed the delegation at the Smart City Chandigarh. The discussion took place about the conservation of heritage projects being undertaken in the city and how the city is taking leaps towards use of renewable energy. He further told the delegation to work on projects like use of electrical fleet of buses for mass transportation in the city. The meeting of the delegation with the Adviser paved the way forward for funding of 24x7 water supply project for the city by the French agency AFD. Samagra Shiksha & CII organized Job Fair at GMSSS 10

Chandigarh, 31st January, 2019: Samagra Shiksha, Chandigarh as a maiden attempt organized a job fair in UT, Chandigarh at Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, sector 10, in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chandigarh. The fair envisioned by the Education Secretary, Mr. B. L. Sharma, IAS, aimed to generate awareness among the students pursuing Skill courses of various government schools of the city. Adviser addresses the issues of Industries Association of Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 31st January 2019: A meeting was held today at UT Secretariat under the chairmanship of Advisor to the Administrator, Sh. Manoj Parida with the members of Industries Association of Chandigarh to discuss the demands/issues raised by the association. Earlier a Committee was constituted in September 2018 to look into the issues of Traders and Industrial Associations. The Adviser to the Administrator had a discussion with the members on various issues like firstly, allowing of additional activities in consonance with MSMED Act, 2006 other than the 2-3 activities allowed in the first ever Industrial Policy 2015 of Chandigarh and also to frame suitable rules for its implementation. Martyrs’ Day Observed at UT Secretariat

Chandigarh, 30th January 2019:  Two minutes silence was observed today in the memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for India’s freedom. The silence period started with presenting arms rest on reserved arms, followed by Buglars sound. Further, 2 minutes silence was observed and, at the end, the Guard of Honor sloped arms. Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, the senior officials of Chandigarh Administration, and employees of UT Secretariat gathered and observed Martyrs’ Day with due solemnity.

Chandigarh Selected for PISA Test 2021

Chandigarh, 29 th January 2019: 28 th January, 2019 was a historic day in the academic history of the country when an agreement was signed between Department of School Education and Literacy, MHRD and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development regarding administering/holding of Programme for International Students Assessment (PISA) test in India in the year 2021.   The agreement was signed by Sh. Manish Garg, Joint Secretary, School Education and Literacy, MHRD and Mr. Andreas Schleicher, Director for the Directorate of Education and Skill (OECD).   Children between age group of 15 years 3 months to 16 years 2 months will be eligible for participation in the said test.    PISA assesses the extent to which 15-years-old students, near the end of their compulsory education, have acquired key knowledge and skills that are essential for full participation in modern societies.   The assessment focuses on the core school subjects of science, readin...
