Preparation & Sale of Low Cost Nutritious Snacks at Home Science College

Chandigarh, 20th September, 2018:   Keeping up with the theme of Poshan Maah, to overcome under nutrition and stunting in growing young children the Post Graduate students of Government Home Science College, Chandigarh have set up a special kiosk on the campus for display and sale of low cost nutritious snacks. They prepared healthy cakes and muffins using variations in ingredients such as whole wheat, oats, ragi, bajra, wheat bran instead of maida. To enhance the protein content fsoya flour, flax seeds, groundnut, nuts, pumpkin seeds were added. All these items were sold at low prices in the campus.  The students gave demonstration on healthier alternatives such as using banana and other fruits to reduce the use of refined sugar. Use of carrots and pumpkin to increase Vitamin A content and use of jaggery to increase iron content was also advocated. State Level Launching of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana on 23rd September

Chandigarh, 20th September, 2018:  State Level launching of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana under Ayushman Bharat, National Health Protection Mission is being held at Tagore Theatre on  23rd September, 2018 (Sunday) at 1:30 pm by His Excellency Shri. VP Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of U.T. Chandigarh. Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) will provide health protection cover to poor and vulnerable families. It will ensure access to healthcare to more than 10 crore poor and vulnerable families in India who have hitherto been left out of the healthcare system and the development story of the country. Changes in Notification : Constitution of Police Complaints Authority

Chandigarh, 19 th  September 2018:  The Administrator, Union Territory of Chandigarh is pleased to make changes in the notification already issued with regard to the constitution of Police Complaints Authority  for Union Territory of Chandigarh, with immediate effect as under:- For clause 3(a) (i) of the notification dated 14.02.2017, for the words “The authority shall inquire into allegations of ‘serious misconduct’ against police personnel”, the following shall be substituted and may be read as:- “The Police Complaints Authority shall take cognizance of only allegations of serious misconduct by the personnel, which would include incidents”. “Poshan Maah 2018” celebrations at Mother Teresa Home

18th September 2018:  “Poshan Maah 2018” was celebrated at Mother Teresa Home, Sector -23, Chandigarh by the Dietetics department, Health Department, GMSH-16, Chandigarh. The theme of the show remained as Healthy Platter for Healthy living. The sisters of the home were sensitized with regard to fortification of the food and supplements of nutrients to be added in their daily diet so to keep our special friends nourished for their healthy day to day lifestyle.  The food handlers, cooks, supervisors were sensitized along with the special children about the hand washing techniques so that they can keep their surroundings clean to maintain hygiene under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Celebration of POSHAN MAAH by Chandigarh Administration

Chandigarh, 17th September 2018: The POSHAN Maah as started by the honorable Prime Minister is being celebrated throughout the country from 1st to 30th September, 2018.  The theme of the POSHAN Maah for September 2018 is "Har Ghar POSHAN Tyohaar”. The basic objective of this POSHAN Maah event is to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, anemia (among young children, women and adolescent girls) to reduce low birth weight by 2%, to 3% per annum respectively and to intensify awareness generation on the importance of nutrition for health. POSHAN Abhiyaan is not a programme but a Jan Andolan, and Bhagidaari. Environment Department organizes Green Skill Development Programme

17th September 2018 : Green Skill Development Programme on “Sustain and Enhance Technical Knowledge in Solar Energy Systems” sponsored by Ministry of Environment Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India, is being organized from 17th September, 2018 to 22nd Nov, 2018 (45 days) by ENVIS HUB, Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh.  During this program, twenty two participants from different states across the country will be imparted skill development training on different technologies used for harnessing the solar energy as well as installation, operation and maintenance works involved in the various solar energy systems.  The 45 days skill development training programme has been inaugurated by Sh.
