e-auction of vehicle registration numbers

Chandigarh, 5 th May, 2017: It is for the information to the general public/residents of Chandigarh that the registration for the participating in e-auction of vehicle registration numbers of new series “CH01-BM” for special/choice registration numbers 0002 to 9999 will start from 11.05.2017 (10:00 AM) and will continue till 17.05.2017 (05:00 PM ) and the e-auction will start on 18.05.2017 (10:00 AM) and will continue till 20.05.2017 (05:00PM).           The owner of the vehicle can register himself/herself on the National Transport website: https://parivahan.gov.in/fancy and the link of the same is available on the Chandigarh Administration, Transport Department website: www.chdtransport.gov.in and obtain the Unique Acknowledgement Number (UAN). Raid Conducted in Grain Market by Department of Food Safety

Chandigarh, 5 th May, 2017: Artificial ripening of fruits like mango, papaya with calcium carbide is common practice adopted by various Food Business Operators during summer season. The use of Calcium Carbide is prohibited for ripening of fruits under the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. The ripened fruits with the above said chemical cause serious health problems. Looking into the seriousness of the matter the officials of Department of Food Safety, U.T. of Chandigarh under the supervision of Dr. Tapasya Raghav, IAS, SDM, Chandigarh Administration conducted a massive raid in the area of Grain Market, Sector 26, Chandigarh today. Many warehouses and shops where the fruits like mango and papaya were stored were inspected and it was found that the Food Business Operators were using Calcium Carbide for its ripening. Chandigarh, 3 rd May 2017: Whereas, in pursuance of the order dated: 14.12.2016 issued by Hon’ble National Green Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi, in the matter of Khalid Ashraf & Anr. Vs. Permission accorded to construct lifts in all Chandigarh Housing Board Dwelling Units

Chandigarh, 2 nd May 2017: Chandigarh Housing Board, in pursuance to the decision taken in its 397 th meeting held on 30.06.2016 vide item no. 397.4.19, had accorded permission to construct lifts to all CHB DUs, vide its order no. 178 dated 11.07.2016, subject to the following conditions:- 1)  The design is to be got prepared by the allottees of a block from a qualified architect registered with the Council of Architects.   The same alongwith certificate of structural stability from a structural engineer registered with the Chandigarh Administration shall be submitted to PAC (Upper) for approval by the allottees at their own level.   Consent of all the allottees of a block shall be mandatory. Chandigarh, 2 nd May 2017: It has come to the notice of the District Magistrate that most of the private coaching centres in the city of Chandigarh remain opened from 08.00 A.M. to 03.00 P.M. These coaching centres are involved in the business of giving tuitions to the school children and their tuition timings clashes with the school time of children, which act as a deterrent to children for attending their school. Also, the U.T. Cadre Education Employees Union, Chandigarh had once stated that they are spoiling the future of the children and even prevent the children to go to school. It has also come to the notice that the teachers of several Government schools and private schools are hands in glove. Therefore, in view of above, Sh. Inauguration of Facility Integrated Counseling & Testing Centre for HIV & Syphilis

Chandigarh, 2 nd May 2017: State AIDS Control Society launched the 21 st Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre in Chandigarh which would provide free confidential testing for HIV and Syphilis, in the Transport Area, Sector 26 Chandigarh. The Centre was inaugurated by the Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Health Secretary, Chandigarh Administration. He appreciated the efforts of the Department and various partner NGOs in bringing down the HIV prevalence in Chandigarh to a low 0.11%, far below the National prevalence of 0.27%. He also expressed gratitude to the partner NGO, Transport Corporation of India Foundation (TCIF) for their generous contribution and commitment to establish the testing laboratory under the PPP mode. The Testing Centre is strategically located in an area where the “Bridge” Population comprising of Truckers and Migrants can easily access the testing services. Amendments in timing of Swimming Pools

Chandigarh, 1 st May, 2017:-  The Sports Department, U.T. Chandigarh has amended the timings of its Swimming Pools due to increase in the number of members this year. This time around   450 members   have    joined   Swimming as compared to last year in which around   350 members and joined Swimming. Also to facilitate Government       Employees, the timings of the Centres have been amended because they employees can take memberships after 5:00 pm only.
