Chandigarh, 03 rd February, 2017:    In pursuance of the order dated: 14.12.2015 issued by Hon'ble National Green Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi, in the matter of Khalid Ashraf & Anr. Vs. U.O.I. & Ors (O.A. No. 384 of 2016) AND P.E.T.A., India Vs. U.O.I. & Ors. (O.A. No. 422 of 2016), it has been made to appear to the district magistrate that a large number of people flying kite, use synthetic/cylon-glass coated thread popularly known as Pakha thread/Dori and Chinese Maanjh/Dori. These Maanjhas/Dori, being made of synthetic material are non-biodegradable and thus cause serious injuries to human beings, birds and are equally disadvantageous & harmful to the wildlife/environment. Chandigarh, 03 rd February, 2017:    E-auction of Residential lease hold/free hold and Commercial lease hold properties have commenced w.e.f 1.2.2017. Two properties i.e. one residential and one commercial on lease hold basis have been put to auction on 1.2.2017 (3:00 pm IST) and the auction process will continue upto Wednesday i.e. 8.2.2017 (3:00 p.m IST) and similar process will be followed in respect of the remaining vacant properties. Capacity Building Workshop

Chandigarh, 03 rd February, 2017:    State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh in association with Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights today organized a ‘Capacity Building Workshop’ for launching of ‘Child Friendly Chandigarh’ Campaign at Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Sector-43, Chandigarh. The workshop was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana Chandigarh and Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Anti Encroachment Drive

Chandigarh, 03 rd February, 2017:    Under the aegis of Dr. Tapasya Raghav, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate (East), U.T, Chandigarh a team of Enforcement Staff, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has conducted a surprise anti encroachment drive in the respective area of Industrial Area, Ph-II, U.T, Chandigarh and issued 97 challans to the encroachers and seized 04 vehicles and chairs, geysers, buckets, steel items, plastic items, mattresses and tables etc. 

Budget for the Financial Year 2017-18

Chandigarh, 1 st February, 2017: The Budget for the Financial Year 2017-18 allocated under the Capital and Revenue Sections as Govt. of India has done away with the system of Plan and Non-Plan. The total Budget allocated in 2016-17 was Rs. 3937.79 Cr.  comprising of Rs. 444.71 Cr. under Capital and Rs. 3493.08 Cr. under Revenue. Fund allocated in the financial year 2016-17 was Rs. 3937.79 Cr which was increased to 4268.75 Cr. i.e. 8.40% increase over original funds allocated. The bifurcation of the increase allocation was: Rs. 200.00 Cr. for Land Acquisition, Rs. 100.00 Cr. for Kajauli Water Works and Rs. 30.96 Cr. for various objects like Wages, Supply & Material etc.  In the financial year 2017-18 , Rs. 4312.40 Cr. Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign

Chandigarh, 30 th  January, 2017:  SHS-NLEP celebrated "Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign" to commemorate 30 th  January 2017 as Anti-Leprosy Day. The purpose of this campaign was to create awareness in the community about Leprosy. The public was sensitized about the signs and symptoms of the disease, complications associated with delay in treatment and free treatment available at all the Govt. Hospitals.  They were also urged not to discriminate against any person suffering from Leprosy.  The Campaign was carried out in 25 areas of Chandigarh by reading out the message of Hon'ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator U.T., Chadigarh and an appeal by the Sarpanch.
