Awareness Camp-cum-Quiz competition on Iodine Deficiency Disorders organized on Global Iodine Deficiency Disorder Day

Chandigarh, 20 th  October, 2018: Iodine Deficiency as presented by “Goitre” has prevalence rate of 3.4% in Chandigarh. At national level more than 200 million people are at risk of IDD while the number of persons suffering from goiter is above 70 million. Approximately 2.2 million children are born cretins (child   born with physical & mental retardation) and 6.6 million have some kind of   neurological deficit. Out of 312 district surveyed so far in India, 254 districts are IDD endemic.                     To create awareness regarding Iodine Deficiency disorders, the National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme Cell, Health Department of Chandigarh launched a weeklong awareness campaign in the city. Order under Section 144 of the Cr.P.C

Chandigarh, 15 th  October, 2018:  It has been made to appear to Sh. Sachin Rana, I.A.S. , District Magistrate, Chandigarh that during festival season, bursting of firecrackers and other fire-works, causes a lots of noise and air pollution, which is likely to create annoyance and occurrence of injury to health of general public. Hence, there is an urgent need to prevent the same by restricting the use of firecrackers and other fire-works, within Chandigarh. Therefore, the District Magistrate, Chandigarh, exercising the power/authority vested under Section 144 of the Cr.P.C.,  do hereby, orders as following: 1. The bursting of firecrackers and other fire-works within the territorial limits of U.T., Chandigarh, shall be allowed between 05:00 P.M. to 08:00 P.M. on Dusshehra day, i.e. 19 th  October, 2018, only. 2. The bursting of firecrackers and other fire-works within the territorial limits of U.T., Chandigarh. Shall be allowed between 06:30 P.M. to 09:30 P.M....
