Ram Darbar witnesses Celebrations of Poshan Mela

Chandigarh, 15th September 2018: The Department of Social Welfare Chandigarh Administration has organized ‘POSHAN Mela’ at Composite Anganwadi building of Ram Darbar in order to bring awareness among people regarding proper intake of nutrition. Poshan Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) is India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers and intends to convert Nutrition Awareness into a Jan Andolan and a “Janbhagidaari  (People’s Movement)”. The Department of Health, Song and Drama Division, Government Home Science College and Food and Nutrition board U.T. Chandigarh also made great efforts in making the event successful. Motivational Seminar organzied on “Career as an Officer in Indian Air Force”

Chandigarh, 14th September 2018: Under the guidance of Chandigarh Administration, the Regional Employment Exchange in association with Director Higher Education organized a Motivational Seminar on “Career as an Officer in Indian Air Force”.   The event was hosted by DAV College Sector-10, Chandigarh. Group Captain Manish Sabharwal, an Ex-NDA Officer and an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College and College of Air Welfare from DISHA CELL, Air Headquarter (New Delhi) was the motivational speaker of the event. Inauguration of the newly built Community Centre at Sarangpur

Chandigarh, 14 th September, 2018: The inauguration of the newly built Community Centre at Sarangpur was done today by the Chief Guest – Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, UT Chandigarh in the presence of officers of the Engineering Department and Chandigarh Administration, along with the residents of the village. The foundation stone of Community Centre at Sarangpur was also laid by Smt. Kirron Kher on 13 th November, 2016. The new community centre is a sight to be watched. It boasts of a plinth area of 12,100 sq ft with double height hall and two side entrances. The building consists of Kitchen, Dining area, Pantry, two rooms, Ladies & Gents Toilets at the ground floor, whereas 2 rooms, Gymnasium, Library and Ladies & Gents Toilet on the 1 st floor. Governor: Make Chandigarh the first Disable Friendly City in the Country

Chandigarh, 13th September 2018: Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh, interacted with the staff and representatives of Parents’ Association to strengthen and upgrade the facilities for children with disabilities at Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID), Chandigarh today. Advisor to Administrator Sh. Parimal Rai, Home Secretary Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Finance Secretary Sh. A.K. Sinha, Director GRIID, Dr B. S. Chavan, Sh. Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer, Sh. POSHAN MAAH Awareness drive held at Bapudham and Ramdarbar Anganwadi

Chandigarh, 13th September 2018: On the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, the Department of Social Welfare Chandigarh Administration decided to celebrate the festival by creating awareness about POSHAN MAAH among pregnant women and mothers of children up to 2 years of age.  The awareness was generated on the importance of nutrition (Poshan) for healthy life and taught ways for maintaining a proper diet of the children as well as of a Mother.  The CDPOs and Supervisors of ICDS were given the lectures on adolescent education, diet and immunization at Anganwadi building Sector 24, Bapudham and Ramdarbar. Besides that in other areas information regarding significance of breast feeding, complementary feeding, immunization, and nutritious diet was spread through Early Child Care Education activities. Administrator V.P.Singh Badnore remembers heroes of Saragarhi Battle

Chandigarh, September 11: The Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore remembered the heroes of Saragarhi Battle and paid homage to all the soldiers of 36 Sikh Regiment who relentlessly fought and laid down their lives while fighting a tribal attack in the North West Frontier Province on September 12, 1897. In a message issued here today on the eve of Saragarhi Day, the Governor said that the Military History needs to be revived for the coming generations so as to make them aware of the immense contribution of the Punjabis in exhibiting indomitable courage while protecting the borders of our country. The battle of Saragarhi stands out as an iconic moment in India’s military history which speaks volumes of the valour of the soldiers, said Sh. Badnore.

Celebration of POSHAN MAAH by Chandigarh Administration

Chandigarh, 11th September 2018: The POSHAN Maah as started by the honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is being Celebrated throughout the country from 1st to 30th September, 2018.  The theme of the POSHAN Maah for September 2018 is "Har Ghar POSHAN Tyohaar”. The basic objective of this POSHAN Maah event is to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, anemia (among young children, women and adolescent girls) & to intensify awareness generation on the importance of nutrition for health. Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) training Starts in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 10 th   September 2018 :  Sh. B. L. Sharma, IAS, Secretary Personnel, Chandigarh Administration inaugurated the first Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) training batch of employees of Group A, B, C and D of Chandigarh Administration at Govt. Industrial Training Institute for Women, Sector 11, Chandigarh.   The Directorate of Technical Education, UT, Chandigarh has been chosen as Nodal Agency to impart the aforesaid training at all the technical Institutes of U.T. Chandigarh.  In all, 20329 U.T. employees will be imparted training on IT so as to enable them to become more efficient and competent to meet the requirements of their duties. Sh. B. L. Awareness Drives were organised to sensitize the masses on various aspects of POSHAN MAAH as declared by honorable Prime Minister  keeping a motive to aware all the field functionaries of the PRIs,  active Social workers & aware the society regarding the Nutrition on grassroots level. State Workshop on Transition to case based Measles Rubella Surveillance System

Chandigarh, 9th September, 2018: State Workshop on Transition to case based Measles Rubella Surveillance System in the State in coordination with WHO – NPSP team was held today under the leadership of Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health and Family Welfare cum Mission Director – National Health Mission. The purpose of the Workshop was to disseminate the operational guidelines and framework to implement the smooth transition to case based model in UT, Chandigarh.  India has set a goal of measles elimination and rubella/congenital Rubella Syndrome Control by 2020. As part of key elimination strategies, the country needs to transition to a case based surveillance system, where all states and union territories will move from the existing outbreak surveillance mode to a move intense and sensitive case-based measles-rubella surveillance system.
