Monika Soni to perform at Naad Vatika

Chandigarh, 26 February, 2016: As per the endeavour of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration to augment classical music, and providing a Cultural Soul to city beautiful activities like - “Naad Vatika” Culture in the Parks shows had been initiated. Adding to this chain is now classical vocal singer   Monika Soni  will perform on  this Saturday  that is on  27.02.2016  at Rose Garden, Sector 16 Chandigarh, from  4:00 PM onward . Monika Soni , a budding Hindustani classical vocalist has been blessed with a melodious voice, brilliant mind and innovative thoughtfulness. Hailing from the Brass City Rewari, Haryana monika  is pursuing ‘ doctoral degree ’ (PhD) in Music.

First Regional Conference by National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions

Chandigarh, 26 th February, 2016 :- A Regional Conference was organized today by National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) in collaboration with Department of Education, Chandigarh Administration at Hotel Mountview, Chandigarh. The main agenda of the conference was to create awareness about National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) and its functions related to minority education. The conference also aimed to solve the confusion among the states of minority quota through an interactive session among stake holders and senior government officers. 

Excise Policy for the financial year 2016-17

Chandigarh, 26 February, 2016: Chandigarh Administration has approved the Excise Policy for the financial year 2016-17 (commencing from 01.04.2016 to 31.03.2017). With regard to the allotment of retail sale liquor licenses (L-2/L-14A), it is mentioned that there will be in total 48 groups of retail sale liquor licenses across the entire city. The total quota of IMFL will be 67.5 lac proof liters and for country liquor, it will be 7.5 proof liters, and for both IMFL and country liquor, it will be 75 lac proof liters and it is kept as same as was in last year. Encroachment drive conducted at Palika Bazar, Sadar Bazar near Dhobi Ghat, Sec-19, Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 26 February, 2016: The Enforcement team of Municipal Corporation and Estate Office Chandigarh under the aegis of Dr Tapasya Raghav, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate (East), U.T, Chandigarh conducted anti-encroachment drive in Palika Bazar, Sadar Bazar near Dhobi Ghat, Sec-19, Chandigarh and have issued 45 challans against the encroachers.  The team has also removed the encroachment of illegal temporary tin-shed/tripal shed in the area.

Conference AIDSCON-5 begins at PGIMER Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 26 February, 2016: The Conference AIDSCON-5 started on 26 th February, 2016 in the National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE), PGIMER Chandigarh. It invited an impressive response from the public, and more than 300 delegates from various walks of life including Doctors, Para-medical staff, Social Scientists, Public Health Experts and Students attended the Conference. Camp organized for preparing Disability Certificate

Chandigarh, 26 February, 2016: A camp for preparing Disability Certificate was organized today i.e. 26 th February, 2016 by State Resource Centre in collaboration with Social Welfare Department in Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Village Dhanas, Chandigarh. The camp received an overwhelming response as it recorded the highest number of beneficiaries ever attended in such camps being organized every month. This huge response was caused due to the survey conducted by Social Welfare Department in the month of February, 2016 at 10 villages through its Village Co-ordinators under Pooran Shakti Kendras for identifying the beneficiaries under its different schemes.  The Social Welfare Department provided to and fro bus facility to the Persons with Disabilities who were identified as not having disability certificate during the said survey. Annual Athletics Meet for Special Children, organized by the Special Olympics

Chandigarh, 26 th February, 2016: 13 special children from the Children Home Snehalaya won 12 gold, 15 silver and 3 bronze medals in their first time participation in the Annual Athletics Meet for Special Children, organized by the Special Olympics (Chandigarh Chapter) at the Sports Complex, sector-7, Chandigarh held on 19 th & 20 th February, 2016. Children Home, Snehalaya is being run by the Chandigarh Child and Women Development Corporation Ltd. Under the aegis of Department of Social Welfare and provides Institutional care and protection to almost approx. 300 children including special children. Launch of Facility of Depositing Tenement Rent at E-Sampark Centre

Chandigarh, 25 th February, 2016:- Citizen Centric Services in Chandigarh took another leap forward with launch of facility whereby residents can deposit the monthly/quarterly/Annual payments of their properties of ground rent, monthly rent, installments, principal, interest, service tax etc. at e-sampark centres. This long awaited service has been launched by UT Administration which will give a major respite to allottees/residents who were earlier visiting estate office to pay dues which is a cumbersome process but with start of this service they are not required to visit or interact with Estate Office,  they can simply  visit  to any nearest e-Sampark Centre from Monday to Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm to pay the dues without any hassle and also get a instant receipt thereof as well as SMS on your mobile. The facility is initially extended to the residents of Rehabilitated colonies having nearly 13500 tenements sites.

Regional Conference to Discuss Problems Faced by Minority Educational Institutions

Chandigarh, 25 th  February, 2016:-   A Regional Workshop will be organized by National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI) on 26 th February, 2016. The said conference would be attended by delegations from various states like Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Jammu & Kashmir and Chandigarh. The main agenda of the conference would be to discuss the problems that are faced by Minority Educational Institutions especially with regard to deprivation and violation of educational rights of minorities granted under Article 30 of the Constitution.

Last Day of Bal Film Festival

Chandigarh, 25 th  February, 2016:-   The last day of Bal Film Festival today began with a welcome note, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, I.A.S, District Magistrate; U.T Chandigarh expressed his gratitude towards the honourable Chief Guest Sh. Vijay Dev, I.A.S, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T Chandigarh for his constant support. He further mentioned that this event would be a yearly festival and more government schools and orphanages would be covered. Addressing the gathering Sh. Inspection of Carbonated Drinking Water And Packaged Drinking Water

Chandigarh, 25 th  February, 2016:-   As per the action plan prepared by Dr. Rajinder K. Sharma, Designated Officer I/c Food Safety Administration, Chandigarh Health Department, Chandigarh, a joint team of Food Safety Officers Sh. Bharat Kanojia & Sh. Surinder Pal Singh today inspected the distributors of Carbonated Drinking water (Cold Drink) and packaged drinking water in Dariya, Makhan Majra & Industrial Area and  samples  of sweetened Carbonated water and Mineral water were taken for analysis & examination.  The distributors were also instructed to keep record of the articles as per date/ batch Number and Best before Date in order to follow the policy according to which the goods received earlier are dispatched earlier and the expiry goods are clearly segregated from the fresh food articles. 

2nd International Standing Conference

Chandigarh, 25 th  February, 2016:-  The 2 nd   International Standing Conference of state parties comprising delegates of 6 countries who have joined hands in a Trans Border  Serial Nomination Dossier for UNESCO Heritage status for works of Le Corbusier was held today in City Beautiful at Hotel Mountview. The first conference was held in France in year 2015. The conference was chaired by Sh. Vijay Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T and attended by Sh. Anurag Agarwal, Secretary Tourism, Sh. Kapil Setia, Chief Architect, Sh. Jitender Yadav, Director Tourism, U.T, Smt. Sumit Kaur, Ex-Chief Architect, Sh. Pradeep Bhagat, Principal, Chandigarh College of Architecture and other Senior Officers from Chandigarh Administration as well as faculty from Chandigarh College of Architecture.

Distribution of Water Purifiers to Anganwari Workers

Chandigarh, 24 th February, 2016:-  Water purifiers were distributed today to Anganwari Workers of different centers located in Chandigarh.  Sh. Vijay Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, along with Smt. Bhawana Garg, IAS, Secretary Social Welfare and Smt. Nishu Singal, HCS Director Social Welfare today distributed 120 Tata Swatch Smart Water Purifiers to workers of different Anganwari centers of the city. The initiative has been taken by Bharat Prakarsh Foundation. Addressing the gathering Smt. Neena Singh, trustee of Bharat Prakarsh Foundation thanked the Administration and the Social Welfare Department for the smooth conduct of the project. She also applauded the generous initiative taken by their corporate patron Nectar Lifesciences Ltd. and their CEO Sh. Dinesh Dua.

Day 1 Children’s Film Festival

Chandigarh, 24 th February, 2016:-   Children’s Film festival organized by Chandigarh Administration was inaugurated today by H.E. Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki Governor of Punjab & Haryana and Administrator U.T Chandigarh. The lamp lightening ceremony was followed by National Anthem and followed by flashing of movie on the big screen at Piccadilly multiplex, Sector-34, Chandigarh. Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, I.A.S, Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh, Smt. Kriti Garg, I.A.S, SDM South, Sh. Rubinder jeet Brar, DPI Schools, Sh. Sarvjit Singh, Finance Secretary, U.T. Chandigarh and Sh. Maninder Singh, Chairman Chandigarh Housing Board gave their presence during the event. For the first time massive number of students collectively from different government schools and orphanages were shown an animated English movie “How To Train Your Dragon” on 29 different screens of various cinemas/multiplexes around the city.

National Immunization Round (21st- 23rd February 2016)

Chandigarh, 23 rd  February, 2016:-  Over 119896 no. of Kids vaccinated in three days campaign of National Immunization Round (21 st - 23 rd  February 2016.) covering 273738 Houses for U.T Chandigarh. National Immunization Round was scheduled in U.T. Chandigarh from 21st to 23rd February 2016. More than 960 teams moved from houses to house covering 273738 houses & vaccinating 119896 children in the age group of 0-5 years in this 3 day activity. The monitoring & supervision was done at various levels by the internal supervisors & external monitors. Film Festival in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 23 rd  February, 2016:-  The Chandigarh Administration is organizing Children’s Film Festival on 24 th   & 25 th  February 2016. This Film Festival will cater more than 15000 students of various Govt. schools and orphanages of Chandigarh.                      Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, District Magistrate said, “Movies related to Children would be screened during this festival to entertain the students from different Govt. schools and orphanages of Chandigarh. All 29 screens of Chandigarh would be showcasing the films free of cost for these children.” The Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh ensured that proper transportation facilities and refreshments will be provided to the children.

Foundation Stone of new e-sampark Centre Laid

Chandigarh, 23 rd   February, 2016:-   With an aim to   s trengthen the e-governance capabilities and existing sampark network,  Chandigarh Administration today laid foundation stone of new e-sampark building in community centre of sector – 27, Chandigarh.                      Sh. Vijay Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator laid the foundation stone at the site where a full fledge e-sampark building will be constructed and he also dug the land after laying the foundations stone. This will be state of the art sampark centre which will have all the modern amenities  and will have 4 counters equipped to offer all 78 G2C, G2B & B2C services  to the denizen of sector-27 and surrounding sectors. The size of the sampark centre will be 39.9” x 32’-71/2” and will be constructed in 1297.00 sq ft area. The sampark centre will also have a dedicated ATM machine.

Painting Exhibition "Catharsis"

Chandigarh, 22 nd  February, 2016:-  In the Ongoing Randhawa Utsav 2016, 9th and 10th graphics print exhibition, Catharsis, was today inaugurated by Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh, at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16. The exhibition showcased the Graphic Print Art by Dr. Rakesh Bani and Sh. Mahesh Prajapati. Evacuation of Travelers

Chandigarh, 22 nd February, 2016:- Due to the protest in Haryana over Jat Reservation the Chandigarh Administration had come forward to help the people who were stuck in Chandigarh and had been facing difficulties.  The Disaster Management Department of Chandigarh Administration through the toll free number 1077 has helped more than 1600 people during the troubled time and today evacuated all the people who were residing in various Dharamshalas of Chandigarh since yesterday.  A special train was run today from Chandigarh Railway Station to Delhi Railway Station for the evacuation of these people.

Pulse Polio National Immunization Day Starts with Bang

Chandigarh, 21 st February, 2016: Pulse Polio National Immunization round started in the U.T Chandigarh on 21 st February 2016. Sh. Anurag Agarwal, Home Secretary-cum-Secretary  Health, U.T Chandigarh inaugurated  three days pulse polio campaign by administrating polio to kids on polio booth at Central Bank of India,Sector-22 Chandigarh  and Dr. V.K Gagneja Director Health Services, U.T Chandigarh administered polio drops at  Rose Festival to rose prince  & princess. On first day i.e 21 st February 2016 as many as 49958 children in the age group of 0-5 Years were given Oral polio vaccination, According to Dr. Anu Chopra Dosajh, DIO. In this mass campaign more than 2200 vaccinators from various departments including police department, education department, Department of Social welfare along with Health department are participating to make it a success. For next two days the teams will be going house to house to cover unimmunized children.

Two Day Workshop on “Opportunities in the Indian Solar Sector”

Chandigarh, 21 st February, 2016: Sh. Vijay Dev, IAS, Adviser to Administrator & Chairman, CREST led the Indian Solar delegation consisting of about 12 Experts from different fields like Policy Planners, Power Producers Financial Institutions etc in a two day workshop  in London, UK on 18 th – 19 th Feb,2016 on  Subject “Opportunities in the Indian Solar Sector”  organized by British High Commission . BHC with the support from UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) India is implementing a project titled “Facilitating India’s 100 GW Solar Scale-Up Plan” that aims to promote the participation of UK’s players in India’s solar market.  The project is being carried out in coordination with the concerned Indian Ministry i.e. Ministry of New & Renewable Energy.
