Chandigarh, 22 nd December, 2016. A function was held today in PEC University of Engineering Auditorium to mark the celebrations of Chandigarh attaining universal Aadhaar saturation as per the estimated population figure of 2015. Chandigarh is fifth in the country to achieve this feat after Delhi, Telangana, Haryana &Punjab. As against the estimated population (year 2015) of 11,15,584 as of now 11,21,085 residents of Chandigarh have acquired Aadhaar . The population of Chandigarh as per census 2011 is 10,54,686 . Chandigarh is the first UT to launch Aadhaar Linked Birth Registration (ALBR) Programme. Under this programme Aadhaar is being linked with birth certificate of new born babies. For its successful implementation in UT Chandigarh, Health Department has procured tablets in Chandigarh. The tablets have been deployed in all the Government hospitals.
