Secretary Vigilance takes Meeting regarding Observance of Vigilance Awareness week

Chandigarh, 26 th  October 2018:  A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sh. BL Sharma, IAS, Secretary Vigilance, Chandigarh Administration,today at U.T Secretariat regarding the observance of Vigilance Awareness week from 29 th  October to 3 rd  November, 2018. In pursuit of the vision of the Government of India to make a New India by the year 2022, which is the 75 th  anniversary of our independence, the Central Vigilance Commission, as the apex integrity institution of the country, endeavours to promote integrity, transparency and accountability in public life. Observance of Vigilance Awareness Week every year is to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of, and the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding the existence, causes and gravity of and the threat posed by corruption.  The Commission has decided that this year the Vigilance Awareness would be observed from 29 th  October...

Advocacy Programme for People living with HIV

Chandigarh, 25 th  October 2018 : An  Advocacy programme was organized by  Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society in collaboration with Inner Wheel  Club Chandigarh Midtown today  to make  people (living with HIV) aware about the importance of nutritional food.  Good nutrition is important to all but for  people living with HIV, good nutrition support helps to maintain the immune system and also helps people with HIV maintain a healthy physique. Dr Joginder Mukherjee, Past President,  Inner Wheel  Club Chandigarh Midtown created awareness about the importance of healthy food habits and food safety methods, as how to handle, prepare, and store food to prevent food borne illnesses. About 50 patients attended the awareness programme. Reconstitution of Administrator’s Advisory Council

Chandigarh, 23 rd  October 2018:   It is for the information of general public that Chandigarh Administration is in the process of re-constitution of new Administrator’s Advisory Council, shortly as the term of present council is going to expire in the first week of November 2018. Administrator’s Advisory Council is constituted to advise the Administrator on the developmental issues and policy matters affecting the Union Territory of Chandigarh.   General Public having expertise in the different fields shall send their names along with resume and short note on their expertise to Chandigarh Administration by 29.10.2018. The council shall comprise of the members representing various fields of the society like Health, Education, Housing, Environment, Law & Order, Sports, Transportation, Traffic management, Social Welfare, urban Infrastructure for the city, Urban Planning and Heritage preservation, media etc.

Removal of exemption to all ‘Sikh Women’ from wearing the protective headgear while driving/ riding a two wheeler

Chandigarh, 21 st  October, 2018: Chandigarh Administration notified the amendment in Rule 193 of Chandigarh Motor Vehicle Rules, 1990 removing the exemption given to all women from wearing the protective headgear while driving/ riding two-wheeler on the road and substituting the same by “Sikh Person (including Women) wearing a turban.”                       The Sikh bodies have represented to Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India against the removal of exemption to all ‘Sikh Women’ from wearing the protective headgear while driving/ riding a two wheeler in Chandigarh.                       The Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi in its communication vide No. U-14035/3/2018-CHD, dated 10.10.2018 has advised the Chandigarh Administration to provide an option to Sikh Women from wearing the protective headgear on pattern s...
