Commemorating Pierre Jeanneret’s 52nd Death Anniversary- Inauguration of Sukhna Interpretation Centre

Chandigarh, 4th December 2019: The sculptural Pump House of the Sukhna Lake was recently repaired and restored and an interpretation Centre dedicated to the Sukhna Lake has been established in this landmark structure of the Lake. Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh inaugurated the centre in the presence of senior officers and eminent architects of the city to commemorate the 52nd Death Anniversary of Pierre Jeanneret. The proposal for setting up this centre was mooted by Deepika Gandhi, Director Le Corbusier Centre in May this year during a presentation to the Mr Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh on the various issues that need to be addressed at the Sukhna Lake and its precincts. Administrator addressed key issues like Surge in Onion prices, Law and Order Situation, Conversion of Government Press Building into Vintage Car Museum

Chandigarh, 4th December 2019: A meeting was held in UT Secretariat today under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh in the presence of Sh. Arun Goel, IAS, Secretary Culture, Government of India, Sh. Vikas Partap, IAS, Secretary Culture, Government of Punjab and other UT officers were present. The details regarding future utilisation of Press Building and Kalagram lawns were discussed.  A presentation was made on the concept of Vintage Car Museum and Corbusier designed Furniture Museum.
