National Immunization Day

Chandigarh, 20 th February, 2016: National Immunization Day(NID) Pulse Polio Campaign February round is scheduled from  21 st to 23 rd February 2016.As per the previous practice, on  day 1 i.e 21 st February 2016,more than 480 booths are set up to cover more than one Lakh children in the age group of 0-5 Years. The children, who are left on day 1, will be covered by House to House Activities on 2 nd & 3 rd Day. This programme is an excellent example of interdepartmental coordination where teams comprising of Persons from Health department, Police department NSS volunteers from the education department, department of Social Welfare along with transport department work tirelessly to make it a success.

State Orientation Programme on Adoption

Chandigarh, 19 th February, 2016:   The State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) under Union Territory Child Protection Society (UTCPS) under the aegis of Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration organized a One Day State Orientation Programme on Adoption 2015 and CARINGS for Chandigarh in collaboration with the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), a statutory body under the Juvenile Justice  (care and protection of children) Act, 2015. The Indian parliament has recently passed the newly amended Juvenile Justice (care and protection of children) Act, 2015 which has come into effect from 15 th January 2015. Directions for Protection of Good Samaritans

Chandigarh, 19 th February, 2016:  The Hon’ble Supreme Court in the case of Savelife Foundation and another V/s. Union of India and another in Writ Petition   ( Civil) No. 235 of 2012 vide its order dated 29 th October, 2014, interalia, directed the central government to issue necessary directions with regard to the protection of Good Samaritans until appropriate legislation is made by the Union Legislature;           The Central Government considers it necessary to protect the Good Samaritans from harassment on the action being taken by them to save the life of the road accident victims and therefore, the Central Government hereby issues and following guidelines to be followed by hospitals, police and all other authorities for the protection of Good Samaritans, namely:-

Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society’s participation in Rose Festival

Chandigarh, 19 th February, 2016:  Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society participated in the Rose Festival held from 19 th February to 21 st February, 2016, at Rose Garden and Leisure Valley, Sector-10, Chandigarh. Two awareness stalls were put up one at Rose Garden and one at Leisure Valley creating awareness about HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections and importance of Voluntary Blood Donation. The fair was inaugurated by Ms. Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament Chandigarh along with other dignitaries. While her visit to the fair she was apprised about the awareness activities being  taken up during the fair to make people aware about HIV/AIDS and Voluntary Blood Donation by Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society. Inaugration Of Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant

Chandigarh, 18 th February, 2016:  Today, Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Chandigarh inaugurated 10 kWp Grid tied Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant at Government High School, Sarangpur, UT Chandigarh. The function was also attended by  Sh.Santosh Kumar, IFS, Director (Science & Tech), Sh.Birendra Choudhary, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Ms. Arpana, IFS, ACF and Sh. Chanchal Singh, Deputy Director, School Education and Principal of the School and other Senior officers/ officials of Chandigarh Administration. On this occasion, Hon’ble Member of Parliament appreciated the efforts taken by Chandigarh Administration in developing Chandigarh as Model Solar City thereby installing Rooftop solar plants on 128 Govt. buildings of total capacity of 6.2 MW.

Inspection Of The Multinational Branded Stores At Elante

Chandigarh, 18 th February, 2016:  As per the action plan prepared by Dr. Rajinder K. Sharma, Designated Officer I/c Food Safety Administration, Chandigarh Health Department, a joint team of Food Safety Officers Sh. Bharat Kanojia & Sh. Surinder Pal Singh on 18-02-2016 inspected all the multinational branded stores  in Elante Mall, Industrial Area, Phase-I, Chandigarh i.e.  McDonald , KFC, Domino's, Pizza Hut and Burger king and five samples of different food articles like Burger, Chicken, Pizza, Pasta & Mutton burger were taken for analysis & examination.  The Food Business Operators were instructed to adhere to the norms of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 and Rules, 2011. They were also educated about the common adulterants found in such food articles. 

Civil Military Liaison Conference 2016

Chandigarh, 17 th   February, 2016:   6th Civil Military Liaison Conference was held today at Haryana Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh, under the Chairmanship of H.E the Governor of Punjab and Haryana and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki. Many long standing issues as of transfer of 5.2 acres land for Air Force Officers Institute in Sector 31, Air Warriors Welfare Centre in Sector 47-B and Kendriya Vidyalaya   in Sector 47-C, Chandigarh   were resolved, which will benefit a large section of serving and retired defence personnel and their families. Exemption of House Tax upto 300 sq yard plots for serving and retired Defence Personnel was intimated as also the introduction of roster for reservation in jobs for retired Defence Personnel. Raid in Sector 29,30 and Manimajra

Chandigarh, 17 th   February, 2016:   A team of Sanitary Inspectors under the aegis of Dr. Tapasya Raghav, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate (East), U.T, Chandigarh conducted raid in the respective area of Sector 29, Sector 30 and Manimajra, Chandigarh.  Wherein 6 challan of Rs. 500/- and 3 challan of  Rs. 5,000/-  were issued and 200 quintal polythene bags/plastic allied items were seized.  

Photography Competition- Rose Festival 2016

Chandigarh, 17 th   February, 2016 : In a Photography competition for Rose Festival 2016, the participants were requested to submit their entries up to 11.02.2016. The photographs were displayed in College of Architecture, Chandigarh on 13.02.2016. The judges of the Competition were Sh. Bheem Malhotra, Associate Professor in Art, College of Architecture, Sh. Swadesh Talwar, Photo Editor, Indian Express, Sh. Navneet Saxena, Managing Partner, Photography Society of Chandigarh, Sh. Rajneesh Wattas, Ex Principal, Govt. College of Architecture, Chandigarh and Sh. Anoop Sunny Gill, M.C Councillor cum Observer. Inauguration of 10 kWp Grid tied Rooftop Solar Power Plant

Chandigarh, 17 th   February, 2016:   10 kWp Grid tied Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant will be inaugurated by at Government High School, Sarangpur, UT Chandigarh by Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Chandigarh on 18 th   February, 2016 at 1130 hrs. This Power Plant has been implemented by CREST (Chandigarh Renewal Energy, Science & Technology Promotion Society). The ‘Sarangpur Village’ has been adopted as Model Village by Hon’ble Member of Parliament, UT Chandigarh under ‘Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) of Government of India and as part of providing better & modern facilities, this Solar Power Plant is being installed in the Govt. High School, Sarangpur. The total cost of the Project is Rs.10.83 lac which includes operation & maintenance charge for 10 years. The Plant shall be able to generate 13,000 kWh (units) per year.

Physical Possession of CHB Flats

Chandigarh, 17 th   February, 2016:   The Chandigarh Housing Board has constructed 2108 Flats at Sector 63, Chandigarh under General Self Financing Housing Scheme. As on date, physical possession of about 1600 Flats has been handed over to the allottees. The general cleaning and garbage collection of the said Sector 63 is the mandate of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. The Medical Officer of Health, Health & Sanitation Wing, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh has already been requested vide various communications of Chief Engineer, Chandigarh Housing Board for making necessary arrangements for general cleaning of area, door to door collection of garbage, disposal of the garbage/waste and for placing of garbage bins in Sector 63, Chandigarh. 

Inspection of Milk Samples

Chandigarh, 17 th   February, 2016:   In an action plan prepared by Dr. Rajinder K. Sharma, Designated Officer I/c Food Safety Administration, Chandigarh Health Department, Chandigarh, a joint team of Food Safety Officers Sh. Bharat Kanojia , Sh. Surinder Pal Singh today  inspected the area of Village Badheri, Sector 40 and Manimarja, Chandigarh and six samples of Milk were taken to check the purity of milk from different dairies operating in the City  and sent the samples for analysis & examination.  The Dairy owners were strictly instructed to adhere to the norms of Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 and Rules, 2011 and do not indulge in mixing of adulterants or water in the milk. 

Classical Vocal Music Concert

Chandigarh, 15th Feb, 2016:  The Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi organized a Classical Vocal Music Concert by Eminent Agra Gharana Guru Pandit Yashpaul and virtuoso Kashish Mittal, a young bureaucrat under Guru Shishya tradition series as part of the ongoing CSNA Basant Utasav-2016 at the Tagore Theatre here today. Akademi Chairman Kamal Arora welcomed the Chief Guest Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Secretary Home and Cultural Affairs, and Sh. Jitender Yadav IAS, Director Culture U.T, who honoured the artists.                              Amidst greetings by applause Pandit Yashpaul brilliantly supported by Sh.
