Visit to polling and counting centres

Chandigarh, 17 th  December, 2016:  The State Election Commissioner Sh. S.K Srivastava, IAS along with Secretary State Election Commission Sh. S.S Gill today visited the counting centre at CCET Sector 26, Polling Booth No.135, 136 &139 At GMSS sector 19 and counting centre at Govt. College Of Education, sector 20. During the visit Sh. S.K Srivastava, IAS met the Returning Officers of the wards. He further inspected the arrangements for the elections and interacted with the polling parties and enquired about set up and if any difficulties are faced in polling arrangements. The Commissioner encouraged all the staff deputed to help the voters to cast their vote.

Induction cum Refresher Training

Chandigarh, 15 th December, 2016: Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society had organized two days Induction cum Refresher Training for peripheral staff working under AIDS Control program. All staff working in the service centres in the entire city were trained on the ways to identify Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) and give proper and timely treatment. Private practitioners regularly in contact with High Risk Groups also attended the training. Celebrations of 92nd Birthday Anniversary of Padma Shri Late Nek Chand

Chandigarh, 15 th December, 2016: The inauguration of the celebrations of the 92nd Birthday Anniversary of Padma Shri Late Nek Chand- Creator and Director of Rock Garden, Chandigarh was done today by Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T at Rock Garden Chandigarh. Among others present during the inauguration ceremony were Sh. Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Elections

Chandigarh, 14 th  December, 2016:  With the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Elections round the corner, the State Election Commission has deputed officials of the Chandigarh Administration as polling staff with the Returning officers of the various wards for smooth conduct of the elections. Some of the officials have not reported to their respective Returning Officers till date. The State Election Commission has taken a very serious view of the same and a strict action is being taken against them.

Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Elections

Chandigarh, 14 th  December, 2016:  The 26 wards of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation will go on poll on 18 th December 2016, wherein over five lakh voters will be casting their votes. There will be 445 polling booths and about 800 approximately EVMs procured for the elections. The MC Election has 3 Election Observers, 7 Returning officers, 3 Expenditure Observers. Each Returning Officer has 2 ARO’s each. The administration has set up 7 enforcement teams comprised with staff of Chandigarh Police, Estate Office and Municipal Corporation. The election has 445 BLO’s who are supervised by 16 Master BLO’s. In view of the Current Elections all the 7 enforcement teams under the supervision of the Returning officers are keeping a strict vigil in their respective areas in order to ensure that the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct is not violated, further to which a daily report is submitted by all the enforcement teams to their respective Returning officers. Migratory Bird Watching Trip

Chandigarh, 14 th  December, 2016:  Today, welcoming the arrival of migratory birds at Sukhna Lake, Department of Forests & Wildlife, Chandigarh Administration along with Yuvsatta-an NGO launched a week long ‘Migratory Bird Watching Trip’ for local School students. Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS Home Secretary cum Secretary, Environment & Forests of Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest on the occasion.   On day one 100 students of Government Model High School, Sector 34C & Government Middle School, Sector 33 ​B​   enjoyed the bird watching treat. Special casual leave

Chandigarh, 14 th  December, 2016:  The Chandigarh Administration has decided to grant special casual leave for 18.12.2016 (Sunday) to all those voters/employees who are working with Chandigarh Administration /Board/Corporations/Institutions/Industries/Factories/Private Sectors Shops and hail from the concerned area and are registered voters in U.T., Chandigarh, as well as also within the meaning of section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Ac, 1881 to enable them to exercise their franchise. 

Action Plan for Cashless Chandigarh Housing Board

Chandigarh, 12 th   December, 2016:   Chandigarh Housing Board has gone completely cashless w.e.f. 1 st   of December, 2016. Surveillance Drive

Chandigarh, 11 th December, 2016: 1 cases of Dengue have been reported (till the release of press note) and the total number of Dengue cases became 885 in the city. Today 5 case of Chikungunya have been reported which were from Chandigarh. The overall details of 315 cases of Chikungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 48 imported, 58 wrong address and 214 from Chandigarh. To further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out alongwith strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources. 

401st meeting of the Chandigarh Housing Board

Chandigarh, 11 th December, 2016: The 401 st meeting of the Chandigarh Housing Board was held on 9.12.2016. The following is a gist of the major decisions that were taken by the Board :- 1. Chandigarh Rural Sports Festival
