Raid by State Tobacco Control Cell and Police Department

Chandigarh, 3 rd January, 2017: Today a special joint drive involving State Tobacco Control Cell and Police Department was conducted at prominent place of Chandigarh to check for the violation under various sections of COTPA Act 2003. After receiving specific information, State Nodal Officer of Chandigarh State Tobacco Control Cell Dr. Deepak Bakshi along with the officials of the police station of Industrial Area Phase-I conducted a special drive at “ONCE UPON A BOTTLE” a prominent place located at the ground floor of ELANTE MALL whereby a large quantity of imported cigarette cases were seized which didn't have pictorial warning as prescribed under section 7 of COTPA Act 2003. The total number of packets seized more than 67 and along with this flavoured Hookahs of out of India origin and molasses were also seized in large quantity. Launch of Table Calendar by the Forest Department

Chandigarh, 3 rd January, 2017: Today, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT Chandigarh released the Table Calendar prepared by Medicinal Plants Board, UT Chandigarh on the theme of “Adoption of Yoga & Medicinal Plants for healthy living”.  On this occasion, he appreciated the efforts made by Medicinal Plants Board under the aegis of Forest & Wildlife Department, UT Chandigarh for taking steps for popularizing Yoga simultaneously with the use of Medicinal Plants for healthy living. Sh. Parimal Rai, Adviser to Administrator informed that every page of table calendar depicts a Yog Asana for remedy of a particular ailment/disease and simultaneously particular medicinal plants for it curing. The idea is to sensitize people for practicing Yogas along with use of medicinal plants for healthier living. Annapurna Akshaypatra Yojana- Affordable, Hygienic and Nutritious Food for Needy

Chandigarh, 2 nd   January, 2017:   The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh jointly with Member of Parliament, Smt. Kirron Kher inaugurated “ANNAPURNA AKSHAYPATRA” a project  initiated by Indian Red Cross Society, U.T. Branch, Chandigarh to provide affordable, hygienic and nutritious diet to the labourers, Industrial workers and all the needy in the city with active support of Health Department, Labour Department, Food & Supplies Department, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Bharat Petroleum corporation Ltd., Sewa Bharti, Chandigarh., Panchkula Gaushala Trust, Panchkula and Market Committee, U.T. Chandigarh. Under this project, a Kitchen Shed is erected at Karuna Sadan Building, Sector 11-B, Chandigarh with total initial cost of the project of Rs.70 Lac. Governor and Member of Parliament Inaugurates Sports Stadium in Government Model High School -43

Chandigarh, 2 nd   January, 2017:   The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, Sh. V.P Singh Badnore and Member of Parliament, U.T., Chandigarh, Smt. Kirron Kher inaugurated the Sports Stadium at   Govt. School Sector-43, Chandigarh today. To promote sports and fitness activities in the city, Chandigarh Administration has decided to provide better sports facilities in the city. One of the initiatives was taken by inaugurating the sports stadium at sector 43, Chandigarh today. The stadium has a multipurpose hall which consists of a swimming pool, Badminton Court, Gymnasium, Table Tennis Court, Squash Court. The rough budget passed to build this fine stadium was RS. 8, 48, 74,000.

OPD Registration Made Free

Chandigarh, 02 nd   January, 2017:  The Department of Health, Chandigarh Administration today made the OPD registration free in the Government Multi Specialty Hospital Sector 16, Civil Hospital, Manimajra, Civil Hospital, Sector 22, Civil Hospital, Sector 45, Dispensaries of Health Department and AMU’S with immediate effect. The registration has been made free in order to support the project of Cashless City. Dr. Rakesh Kashyap, Director Health Services, U.T Chandigarh briefing about the initiative said, “ The step taken by the health department will not only support the  project of Cashless City but will also save the time of the patients who were now standing in queues for getting the registrations done”.  

Meeting of Indian Buildings Congress

Chandigarh, 02 nd  January, 2017:    A meeting of Indian Buildings Congress (IBC) members from Chandigarh regarding Establishment of IBC Chandigarh Chapter was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T Chandigarh cum President  IBC. The meeting was attended by the President IBC, Chairman Chandigarh Housing Board, Sh. Pardeep Mittal Honorary Secretary of IBC, Sh. Manoj Arora, Director PEC and the members of IBC, Chandigarh.  The President IBC in his key note address highlighted the role of IBC in the current scenario in the Country and stressed upon need to have more knowledge sharing platform within the members to strengthen the IBC. The President also informed that the IBC is celebrating its Silver Jubilee which was formed in the year 1992.
