Chandigarh, 10 th July 2020: It has been made to appear to Sh.   Mandip Singh Brar, I.A.S., District Magistrate, Chandigarh that because of possibility of law & order problem, security threats and possibility of misuse of weapons by anti-social elements and others can create panic in the public and public nuisance, and as such there is very high apprehension of breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquility besides danger to human lives and safety by the display of weapons. Vanmahotsav- 2020

Chandigarh, 10 th  July, 2020:   The word “Vana Mahotsav” refers to “tree-plantation ceremony”, which is celebrated every year, in the month of July, to inculcate among the general public the need for growing trees and nurturing them.  Due to COVID pandemic situation prevailing in the entire country, no major ceremonial plantation was done to avoid possible crowding by the public. However, to sensitize the citizens regarding the importance of tree plantation,  Vanmahotsav-2020 , has been launched on 10 th  July, 2020   by planting tree saplings at Forest Area on I.T. Whereas it has been made to appear to me that there is an apprehension that anti-social elements may make their hideouts clandestinely in the residential/commercial areas of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. If suitable measures to prevent the same are not taken, the unlawful activities of these people can cause breach of peace and disturbance of public tranquility besides posing grave danger to human life and safety and injury to public property.    And whereas, I, Mandip Singh Brar, I.A.S., District Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh, am of the opinion that some check is necessary on landlords/owners/managers of residential/commercial establishments so that anti-social elements in the guise of ordinary tenants, domestic servants & Paying Guests may not cause harm to the citizens and that immediate action is necessary for prevention of the same.   Now therefore, I, Mandip Singh Brar, I.A.S., District Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh in exercise of the powers ve...

Skilling Youth of Chandigarh in times of COVID-19 and beyond

Chandigarh, 9th July 2020:World Youth Skills Day 15th July 2020 will take place in the challenging environment of COVID-19. The pandemic and lockdown measures have led to the worldwide halt of all including the technical institutions. However, the need of skill development has increased due to slow down of economic activities and attrition in the employment. In this context, Chandigarh Skill Development Mission in collaboration with India Skills has decided to celebrate this day of Youth through digitization/online interaction mode.   In this endeavor, webinars have become the most common way of imparting skills. Chandigarh.7 July,2020: On the Occasion of ‘Van Mahotsav-2020’ during the monsoon season, the Department of Forest & Wildlife, UT Chandigarh has started the initiative titled “ वन विभाग आपके द्वार ” (Forest Department at your Door Steps) in UT Chandigarh. This scheme of free distribution of plants/saplings to general public without any formal application, thereby easing the governance in forest. Three Vehicles are designed for free distribution of saplings. The timing of the distribution of plants/saplings door-to-door by Forest Department, UT Chandigarh is from (10/07/2020 to 31/07/2020 09:00 AM to 06: 00 PM) . One can receive up to 05 plants from the department for his/her choice of species without any charges through this moving vehicle.
