CREST gets Best State Nodal Agency Award for Promotion of Renewable Energy among UTs

Chandigarh, 24 th January, 2017:   Chandigarh Renewable Energy Science and Technology (CREST) has been given two National awards by Sh. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister for Power and New & Renewable energy at India habitat centre, New Delhi today. CREST is conferred with the Best State Nodal Agency award for promotion of Renewable energy among UTs and has got second prize in highest rooftop solar addition in year 2015-16 among UT’s, whereas Delhi got first award in this category. CREST has installed 2.74 MW on 80 Government buildings in 2015-16.

Road Tax of Battery Operated Vehicles Reduced

Chandigarh, 24 th January, 2017: In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of The Punjab Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1924, as in force in the Union Territory of Chandigarh as amended read with the Notification No.G.S.R.366 (E), dated 15.06.2006 of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh in pleased to reduce the road tax of Battery operated vehicles of all categories to NIL, subject to review, after three years. 

e-AWAS Project Launched for Allotment of Government Houses of Chandigarh Administration General Pool

Chandigarh, 23 rd   January, 2017: Chandigarh Administration has launched e-Awas with the help of N.I.C, Chandigarh for allotment of Government houses of “Chandigarh Administration General Pool” in future. The training of complete e-Awas project of Chandigarh Administration was given to the Nodal Officers/ representatives of Punjab Government, Haryana Government, Punjab and Haryana High Court, by the officers of N.I.C. to 5 officers each these offices. After gaining training from the NIC professionals, all these Nodal Officers/ Representatives of these offices are now capable to handle the entire process of this project. Social Welfare Department Organizes First Pride Fashion Show for Empowerment of Divyangjan

Chandigarh, 23 rd January, 2017:   The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development Chandigarh Administration organized the First Pride Fashion Show for Empowerment of Divyangjan at Tagore Theatre today. Smt. Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament U.T. Chandigarh was the chief guest on this occasion. The Fashion show was organized with the theme of inspiring empowerment of Divyangjan. 152 Divyangjan from different institutions i.e. SOREM, VATIKA, PARYAAS, GRIID, Institute for the Blind, National Association for Blind (NAB), Aasha Kiran etc participated in the Fashion Show. The participants of the Fashion Show were from different disabilities which included Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, intellectually Challenged, Physically Challenged and Cerebral Palsy.
