Installation of new Solar Power Plant at GMCH Sec.32 to reduce electricity bill by approximately Rs.36 lakhs annually

Chandigarh, 8th November 2019: Smt.Kirron Kher, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Chandigarh inaugurated the 400 kWp SPV Power Plant at Govt. Medical College & Hospital (Block A, B, C & D), Sector-32, Chandigarh in the presence of Sh.Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh.  This Plant has been installed on the rooftop of Govt. Medical College & Hospital,Sec.32 (Block A, B, C & D) with a total cost of Rs.1.99 Crore and executed by CREST (Chandigarh Renewable Science & Technology Promotion Society). This plant will generate approximately 5,20,000 units of electricity annually and shall help the UT Chandigarh marching towards 100% Renewable Energy Powered. Adviser meets Heritage Committee  regarding Heritage awareness in schools and colleges of Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 7th November 2019: A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator regarding Heritage awareness and sensitization in schools and colleges of Chandigarh. A presentation was made by Deepika Gandhi, Director Le Corbusier Centre regarding the need to connect the students of schools and colleges with the heritage of the city and the past and present efforts made by the Architecture Museums in this direction. She informed that as a result of sustained efforts of the outreach and education program of the architecture museums many private schools had started engaging with the museums and Capitol Complex regularly but the same opportunity needs to be given to students of Government schools and colleges.  Committee on Road Safety discusses Road Safety Measures- Appreciates Efforts of Chandigarh Administration in Reducing Fatalities

Chandigarh, 7th November, 2019:  A meeting of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety  was held under the Chairmanship of Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan (Retd.) to discuss the additional directions of the said Committee pertaining to Road Safety in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.    During the meeting, various measures of Road Safety issues were discussed. The  Committee observed that  Chandigarh Administration is working on sensitizing people about Road Safety measures besides promulgating steps to reduce the fatalities in road crashes. 28th State Level Vocational Skill Competition held

Chandigarh, 6th November 2019: The 28th State Level Vocational Skill competition was inaugurated by Director School Education, U.T., Chandigarh, Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar at GMSSS-8B, Chandigarh. DSE School Education motivated students and laid emphasis on how vocational education helps youth to acquire practical experience and learn modern methods of diverse vocations. Eight competitions in streams of Beauty and Wellness, Yoga, Textile Designing, Fashion Designing, Marketing, Financial Market Management, Banking & Insurance and Taxation & Costing were held. Fashion Designing students prepared Kantha embroidered cushion covers whereas the students of Beauty & Wellness discipline showcased their south Indian Make-Up skill. In textile designing, free hand painting on runners was exhibited by students in an aesthetic and elegant manner. Sh. VP Singh Badnore inaugurated the Sports Complex at Sector 39 Chandigarh

Administrator Reviews Project of Legacy Waste Bio-Mining at Dadumajra

Chandigarh, 4th November 2019: Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh reviewed the project of Legacy Waste Bio-Mining at Dadumajra. Under this project about five lacs metric tonne of waste which is lying there for more than 20 years will be Bio-mined. This waste is the major cause of sufferings for the residents of Dadumajra, as it emanates foul smell, homes and streets are filled with Leachate (very foul smelling liquid) especially during the rains. This result into spread of diseases, fly and dust nuisance. Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore intimated the agency SMS, Ltd. of Nagpur to whom the entire project has been allotted at the cost of 33.00 Cr., that he will be closely monitoring the project so that it is completed well in time and the residents of Dadumajra are given much sought after relief.
