Get Set For A Memorable Ride On City Roads

Chandigarh, 2 nd   April, 2016 :   The double-decker roof top open tourist coach bus - entity of Chandigarh, was flagged off by Hon’ble Member of Parliament Smt. Controlling of Places of Public Amusement, 2016

Chandigarh, 1st April, 2016: It is for the information of general public that a policy called as “Controlling of Places of Public Amusement, 2016” has been implemented and notified by the Chandigarh Administration, to maintain the law & order situation within the jurisdiction of Union Territory of Chandigarh. “Place of Public Amusement” means discotheque, pool game/virtual reality game/game machine parlours, bowling alleys.  This includes places where music, singing, dancing (excluding cinema) and facility of eating and consumption of Alcohol are provided to the customers or patrons in the prescribed premises/area with the purpose of running a commercial enterprise for pecuniary gains.   Any organizer desirous to operate the place of public amusement shall apply on the prescribed format, along with requisite documents required under the applicable Notifications in Chandigarh, to the Office of the District Magistrate, U.T. Chandigarh, 1 st April, 2016 :   The Housing Scheme for 200 Two Bed Room Flats under Self Financing Housing Scheme 2016 was launched today. However, since 1 st   April, 2016 was a bank holiday and all banks were closed under the Negotiable Instruments Act, no brochures were sold and no application forms under the scheme were deposited today. Inauguration Of 53rd National Maritime Day

Chandigarh, 1 st April, 2016:  The Governor of Punjab, Haryana and Administrator of U.T, Chandigarh, His Excellency Sh. Kaptan Singh Solanki today inaugurated the 53 rd   National Maritime Day (NMD) at Haryana Raj Bhavan, U.T, Chandigarh. Order Under Section 144 Cr. P.C.

Chandigarh, 1 st April, 2016: It has come to the notice of Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, District Magistrate, Chandigarh that some of the hotels/restaurants/eateries, etc. within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh are levying service charge over and above the actual bills. The said service charge is without any authority of law and is not provided under any statute. The proceeds of the service charge are retained by the hotels/restaurants/eateries and not a charge collected by the Government.  As such, there is a large scale of resentment against the levy of this charge among the consumers. This levy, which is not supported by any law, tends to bring about manipulation of price in such a manner as to impose on the consumers, unjustified costs. The levy of service charge by hotels/restaurants/eateries is clearly a restrictive/unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 1986. Sh. Launch of Mobile Food Testing Laboratory

Chandigarh, 1 st April, 2016: One mobile Food Testing Laboratory was launched today by H.E Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Haryana, Administrator UT Chandigarh, 1 st April 2016 for U.T. Chandigarh. H.E Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki announced that this Mobile Food Testing facility is the first to be set up in the Country. The mobile van would be stationed at different locations every day as per a roster drawn out.  This route plan will be shared within the public so that they can avail of this testing facility. The laboratory will test raw food samples including milk at a nominal cost of only Rs.30/-. The Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, informed that the consumer who would get the food material tested would get the result immediately. Declaration of Chandigarh kerosene free from 1st April, 2016

Chandigarh, 31 st March, 2016: The Chandigarh Administration has been striving since long to make Chandigarh-‘a Kerosene Free City’. With the efforts of the Chandigarh Administration, from the 1 st April, 2016, the city will finally be declared kerosene free. Thus, no further distribution of SKO will be done from the month of April, 2016 and onwards. All the Kerosene Oil Depots (KODs) located in various areas of the city will be closed down with immediate effect.                       The Department has decided to facilitate the households presently using Subsidized Kerosene Oil (SKO),by making them to switch to the usage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as an alternate source of fuel. Chandigarh, 31 st March, 2016: As per the direction of Smt. Kriti Garg, IAS, SDM, South, a team consisting of Three Sanitary Inspector i.e. One Chief Sanitary Inspector and two Sanitary Inspector of Medical Office of Health, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, inspected the shops in Sector-35, Chandigarh and approximately 12 kg Plastic Items such as Plastic spoons, Plastic glasses, Plastic plates and polythene bags items were seized and a total of five challans had been issued to the violators.  Two challans of Rs 5000/- each and three challans of Rs. 500/- each were issued to the erring shopkeepers. The seized items were later sent to the dumping ground situated in Dadumajra for safe disposal of the same. Smt. Affixation of High Security Registration Plates

Chandigarh, 31 st March, 2016: It is for the information of general public/residents of Chandigarh that the Registering & Licensing Authority, UT, Chandigarh has started process for affixing of High Security Registration Plates on vehicles already registered in UT, Chandigarh at three notified locations i.e. the offices of R&LA, Sector-17, SDM(S), Sector-42, SDM (E), Indl. Area, Phase-I, Chandigarh. The owners of the vehicle having registration number of”CH03-Q” series shall apply for affixation of HSRP at their respective offices with the request on plain paper mentioning the detail of Chassis Number, Engine Number, Make, Model, copy of Registration Certificate of the vehicle, copy of valid insurance and copy of Identity Card of the owner within one month from the date of 01.04.2016. Kriti Garg, IAS, SDM South, a team of Sanitary Inspectors of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, inspected Baker Brothers , SCO No. 215, Sector 36-D and Sindhi Sweets , SCO No. 403, Sector 37-D, Chandigarh, where Plastic Items such as polythene bags, Plastic glass were found.  A pproximately 15kg polythene/carry bags, plastic glasses items were seized and challans of Rs 5000/- each were issued to the erring shopkeepers. The seized items were later sent to the dumping ground situated in Dadumajra for safe disposal of the same. Smt. Kriti Garg, IAS appealed to the traders as well as general public to discourage the use of polythene/ plastic bags / plastic plates/ glasses and such allied items to make the city cleaner and garbage free. She also made an appeal to the general public to shift to the safer options like jute/ cloth carry bags which are environment friendly and bio-degradable.

Government accounts closing of financial year 2015-2016

Chandigarh, 29 th   March, 2016 :-  The Central Treasury, Chandigarh will remain open up till 12:00 (Midnight) on 31.03.2016 or till the payments of all the bills/claims/cheques is cleared on 31.03.2016 whichever is later, to make the payments of all the claims of financial transactions valid for 2015-2016, so that no budgetary allocation is lapsed during the current financial year.

Chandigarh, 28 th March, 2016 :- In compliance with the directions passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Civil Appeal No.2740 of 2007 – State of U.P. & Ors. Vs. All U.P. Consumer Protection Bar Association vide order dated 14.1.2016, the Committee consisting of Hon’ble Dr. Justice Arijit Pasayat, Former Judge of Supreme Court of India as Chairman, Hon’ble Ms. Justice Rekha Sharma, Former Judge, High Court of Delhi and Sh.
