29th Meeting of the Northern Zonal Council held on September 20, 2019, Chandigarh

Chandigarh.20 September,2019. The 29th meeting of the Northern Zonal Council was held   under the Chairmanship of Shri Amit Shah, Hon’ble Union Home Minister. The meeting was attended by the Chief Ministers of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Administrator of the UT Chandigarh, Lt. Governor of NCT Delhi and, various Ministers from these States, and senior officers from the Central and State Governments including Chief Secretaries and Secretaries to Government of India. Haryana Chief Minister welcomed the guests.   He mentioned about the significant contributions being made by the State to the Indian economy.   Haryana is ranked as the third fastest growing State and fifth in order of exports from India and GST collections.   He thanked the Central Government and concerned States for signing the MoUs for Renuka and Lakhwar Vyasi Dams and hoped that the MoU for Kishau Dam will also be entered soon.   He reques...

Gambusia Fish seedlings released in water bodies to prevent malaria/dengue and to maintain ecological balance

Chandigarh, 20 th September, 2019: The Fisheries Department of Chandigarh in coordination with Forest Department initiated step to fight against mosquito borne diseases like malaria, dengue which is common in ongoing season when mosquitoes breed very rapidly causing the spread of these diseases. The Fisheries department released Mosquito Killer fish (Gambusia) at Botanical garden, Dhanas, Rose Garden, Sector-   16 Chandigarh on 20.9.19 for preventing malaria/dengue and to maintain ecological balance.The gambusia fish will be released in other water points shortly. Sh. Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director Animal Husbandry & Fisheries U.T. Chandigrah stated that the Gambusia released in the water bodies is being produced at Fish Seed Farm at Regulator end of Sukhna Lake functioning under .U.T. Fisheries Department . Environment Departments ‘Say No to Single Use Plastic Campaign’ going strong in the city through Street Plays

  Chandigarh, September 17: The street plays to spread the message of ‘Say NO to Single Use Plastic’, by Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration are getting good response in the city. Today around 500 people enthusiastically watched the artists hired by the Department at Colony No. 4 and Manimajra in Chandigarh. Sub National Immunization Round (SNID) in UT Chandigarh

Chandigarh, September 16, 2019: 76822 children were immunized in two days of Sub National Immunization Round (SNID) Polio September 2019 which was scheduled in U.T. Chandigarh on 15th and 16th September, 2019. The difference between National Immunization Day (NID) and Sub National Immunization Day (SNID) is that the NID is a three days campaign where day one is dedicated for booth activity and rest two days are dedicated for House – to – House activity while the SNID is a two days House – to – House activity which is being conducted to focus on High Risk areas/ vulnerable areas only. In the Sub National Immunization Round (SNID), approx.80 Supervisors monitored the activity for which 602 teams (consisting of 2 members in a team) of vaccinators were deployed for House – to – House visits.
