Regional Workshop on Elimination of Bonded Labour System

Chandigarh, 5 th  July 2019:   The Chandigarh Administration today organized a Regional Workshop on Elimination of Bonded Labour System, including Child Labour, Inter-State Migrant Workers and Human trafficking at Chandigarh Judicial Academy, Sector 43, Chandigarh under the aegis of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), New Delhi. The workshop was presided over by Justice Sh. P.C Pant, Hon’ble Member, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and former Judge of the Supreme Court of India. In his Inaugural address, he urged upon the rehabilitation of rescued bonded laborers and showed his concern upon effective implementation of various acts formulated for elimination of bonded labour and prosecution of the offenders. Chandigarh Administration to fill Vacant Posts as per Punjab Recruitment of Ex Servicemen Rules, 1982

Chandigarh, 5 th  July 2019:  Chandigarh Administration has always made efforts to fill up the vacant posts by inviting applications in different leading newspapers so that eligible/deserving candidates can get an opportunity. As per Punjab Recruitment of Ex Servicemen Rules, 1982 as applicable in Chandigarh, 13% vacancies in direct recruitment are reserved for Ex Servicemen. The Rules further provide that “where an Ex Serviceman is not available for recruitment against a reserved vacancy, such a vacancy shall be reserved to be filled by recruitment of the wife or dependent child of an ex serviceman, who has neither been recruited against a reserved vacancy under these rules.” It has been noticed that sufficient number of posts in group B& C reserved for Ex Servicemen are lying vacant in various departments of Chandigarh Administration. Chandigarh Housing Board to Organize Three Days Camp for Collection of Dues

Chandigarh, 4 th July 2019: During the month of June, 10 days special camps for collection of outstanding rent from Small Flats were organized by the Chandigarh Housing Board at 07 locations namely Dhanas, Ramdarbar, Maulijagran, Sector-38, West Sector-49, Sector-56 and at   Industrial Area Phase-I. It was found during the camps that total dues were Rs. 5.28 crores and during the month of June the total collection was about Rs. 6.50 crores. During the camp, about 2300 allottees cleared their dues; however dues more than Rs. 20 crores are still pending. Chandigarh Housing Board has issued Final Show Cause Notices to 250 allottees and first time notices to 6000 allottees who have failed to clear the pending dues. They have been given 15 days time to clear their dues failing which, their allotment will be cancelled and proceedings for their eviction will be initiated. Chandigarh, July 3, 2019:   The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore today directed the officers concerned to strengthen the drainage system in Chandigarh and carry out thorough cleanliness of the drains to avoid any inconvenience to the people of City Beautiful Chandigarh in the ensuing rainy season. The Governor also asked the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh to take effective step to streamline the drainage especially around the roundabouts so that the water flows smoothly without any obstacles. He also asked them to identify the blocked drains in and around the residential areas and complete the tasks of repairing/opening these drains before the start of monsoons. Administrator Allows Operation of Bike Taxis in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 3 rd  July 2019:  The Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh is pleased to allow the operation of Bike Taxis in Chandigarh subject to following conditions as well as fulfilment of the conditions as laid down in Section 74(2) and 84 of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988; I)            The applicant of a permit must be an individual, firm registered under the Partnership Act, 1932 or a company registered under the Companies Act, 2013. Administrator holds Meeting to discuss Developmental Plans of Sardar Beant Singh Memorial Complex

Chandigarh, 2 nd  July 2019:  In pursuance of Gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi and order of Secretary Health, Chandigarh, Sh. Jitender Yadav, I.A.S., District Magistrate, Chandigarh in exercise of the powers vested with him under Section 144 of the Cr. P.C., hereby order that sale and production of Bottled Correction Fluids, as well as bottled thinners of any chemical composition, both for ink erasing purposes as well as for nail polish removers and similar other purposes for retail sale, is prohibited within the jurisdiction of Union Territory of Chandigarh of Chandigarh, in the public interest for a period of 60 days. Chandigarh, 2 nd  July, 2019 : Citizens planning to visit UT Secretariat at Sector 9 to meet senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration can now seek appointment online sitting at home. This would benefit especially those who are coming from far off places. The UT Administrator and Governor of Punjab, Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore launched the online visitor pass system for the UT secretariat. The existing system of public visiting hours of meeting officers from 12 pm to 1 pm (except on Wednesday and Friday) would continue for which no appointment would be required. An e Office based File Monitoring System was also launched. In addition to current system of instant appointment at UT Secretariat, the new system will allow users to seek appointment in a very convenient manner byfilling in some basic information and selecting the officer’s name from a pre-defined list.
