World Earth Day Celebrations

Chandigarh, 22nd April, 2016: A Conference on " Environmental Education through Eco Clubs - let us think globally and act locally "  on the occasion of ‘ World Earth Day was inaugurated today by Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh at Moti Ram Arya Senior Secondary School, Sector 27-A, Chandigarh. The conference was organized by Department of Environment & Forests in collaboration with Youth Innovative Society (an Environmental NGO), to promote Eco Club activities for educating and spreading awareness amongst the students on environment. National Electoral Rolls Purification (NERP)-2016

Chandigarh, 22 nd April, 2016: It is for the information of General Public as well as the Political Parties that the Election Commission of India has launched an intensive drive “national Electoral Rolls Purification (NERP)-2016 which will include enrolment of all eligible left out citizens and removal of duplicate/shifted/dead electors from the Electoral Rolls and also correction of particulars in Electoral Rolls. For this purpose checking of Photo Electoral Rolls by the Election Department, U.T., Chandigarh has been undertaken w.e.f. 23.04.2016 to 13.05.2016 by visiting the B.L.Os at your doorstep. All residents of Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency are requested to give full co-operation to B.L.O’s at the time of their visit to their residence for verification with the Photo Electoral Rolls-2016. Celebration of the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

Chandigarh, 22 nd   April 2016:   The Government of India is celebrating the 125 th   Birth Anniversary   of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with full enthusiasm in all over the country from 14 th   April to 24 th   April 2016. In the memory of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar the Government of India is celebrating with great enthusiasm all over the country. As a first step towards these celebrations, the Government has declared 14 th   April 2016 as “Rashtriya Samrasta Divas”. The Government of India has proposed to undertake a “Gramoday se Bharat Uday Abhiyan” in all the Gram Panchayats and Gram Sabhas of the country. Health Department Notification

Chandigarh, 21 st April, 2016: In exercise to the powers conferred upon the Deputy Commissioner by the Health Department, the following order is issued under Section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 (Central Act number III of 1897): 1.       The sale of all kinds of exposed edibles eg. Cakes, sweets, biscuits, breads, parched grains of all kinds, dates and cut fruits is banned. 2.      All kinds of cold drinks including lassi, sugarcane juice, sharbats, jaljeera, curd and cut fruits kept for sale shall be properly covered with the help of wire gauze or glass for protection from dust & flies. 3.      The sale of unchlorinated water through water trolleys obtained from unauthorized sources is banned. 4.      Ice/Ice Candies/Aerated Water sold through outlets under hygienic conditions is banned.

Chandigarh bags PM’s Award for Excellence at the 10th Civil Services Day

Chandigarh, 21 st April, 2016: Chandigarh has been conferred with the coveted Prime Minister Award for excellence in Public Administration among ‘UT Category’ Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.  This award was bestowed upon Sh. Ajit Balaji J0shi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Sh. Narendra Modi at a glittering ceremony held in New Delhi today on the occasion of Civil Services Day. Celebration of Rashtriya Samrastra Divas

Chandigarh, 21 st April, 2016: As a part of the celebration of Rashtriya Samrastra Divas, the Chandigarh Administration has been conducting various activities, programmes, events, camps and competitions in the villages. Continuing with the campaign, various events were held yesterday which included an Inter village Sports meet was held in Gram in Khuda Alisher by the Rural Dev. & Panchayats Department, a Medical camp (eye –dental –blood test 9.00 AM to 1.00 PM) was organized at village Behlana by the Bharat Vikas Parishad. An LED van displaying Photographs & Literature about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s ideology and achievements covered all the villages of U.T., Chandigarh and a movie on the life of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was also screened for the people of villages by the Department of Public Relations, Chandigarh Administration. 

Controlling of Places of Public Amusement Policy 2016

Chandigarh, 20th April, 2016: Taking cognizance of the news articles published in various newspapers on 20.04.2016 and the stories being covered by electronic media regarding the policy “Controlling of Places of Public Amusement, 2016”. It is to clarify that as per the directions of the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh in CRM-M 22351 of 2015, Chandigarh Administration has framed a policy i.e. “Controlling of Places of Public Amusement, 2016”. Surprisingly, some of the newspapers and electronic media has misquoted, mis-interpreted and distorted the facts related to this policy, especially with the section 6 of the policy. Public Holiday Declared on 19th April, 2016

Chandigarh, 18th April, 2016: The Public Holiday already declared for 20 th April, 2016 (Wednesday) on account of Mahavir Jayanti is hereby cancelled and now 19 th April, 2016 (Tuesday) will be observed as Public Holiday on account of Mahavir Jayanti in Government Offices/Boards/Corporations/Institutions under the Chandigarh Administration and also within meaning of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881. It is hereby declared that 20 th April, 2016 shall be observed as working day in Government Offices/Boards/Corporations/Institutions under the Chandigarh Administration and also within meaning of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
