Chandigarh Emerge as Overall Winners in 65th National School Games

Chandigarh, 23rd November 2019: The closing ceremony of the 65th National School Games in Baseball and Fencing U-19 Boys and Girls was conducted at the Sports Complex, Sector 7 in Chandigarh today. The games were held from 18th to 23rd November in Chandigarh. The city played host to over 800 players and their officials from 18 different states and UT’s. Mr. B L Sharma, IAS, Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest and was received warmly by Mr Rubinderjit Singh Brar, PCS, Director School Education and other senior officials of the Education Department, Chandigarh. Mr. S   Ramakrishnan, Observer from the SGFI also graced the occasion. The chief guest honoured the winning players with the medals and trophies. In Baseball boys category the gold was bagged by Chandigarh, silver by Madhya Pradesh and the bronze by Chattisgarh. One Day Event on Artificial Intelligence at Centre for Humane Artificial Intelligence (ChAI)  - SPIC

Chandigarh, 20th November,2019: Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) under the aegis of IT Department of Chandigarh hosted a half day event ChAI @SPIC today.  This was the inaugural event of Centre for Humane Artificial Intelligence (ChAI), a platform being setup with a view to foster discussion an opportunities and challenges inherent in emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI).This event was organized by SPIC in sync with the mandate of Niti Aayog to establish the National Program on AI, with a view to guiding the research and development in new and emerging technologies.  ChAI@SPIC has proposed ChAI to be a platform where practitioners from industry, academia and government can come together in pursuance of the goal of AI for All by conducting research to make AI more accessible, inclusive and ethical through human-centered design of AI based e-governance solutions.  ChAI@SPIC also plans to Organise workshops and short-term train...

Minimum wage notification issued by Labour Department,UT,Chandigarh

  Chandigarh. 20 th   November,2019. The half yearly Cost of Living Index Numbers of Chandigarh Centre (Base 2001 = 100) for industrial workers, issued by Labour Bureau, Shimla for the months of April, 2019 to September, 2019 are 1635.86, 1630.60, 1635.86, 1667.42, 1672.68 and 1683.20 respectively. Thus the average (calculated for six months) cost of living index numbers as on 30.09.2019 is 1654. The previous average cost of living index number was 1600 points for the quarter ending 31.03.2019. Therefore, increase in average cost of living index number is 54 points and per point neutralization in minimum rates of wages for monthly rated employees under the Minimum Wages Act is Rs. 7/-. Thus minimum rates of wages for each category of employees have been increased by Rs. 378/- p.m. on the increase of 54 points.                The following are the minimum rates of wages payable for monthly & ...

Shuttlers Tanveer and Kalpana make India proud

Chandigarh, 19th November 2019:Indian badminton players made India proud in the first Special Olympics Asia Pacific Unified Badminton Championship held from 12-16th November 2019 at Bangkok, Thailand. Tanveer and   Sanyam as unified boys team won gold medal in the category 16-21 years male D-2 group and Kalpana and Arpita as unified girls team won silver medal in mixed female D-1 group.   Tanveer and Kalpana are intellectually disabled students of Government    Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID), Sector 31, Chandigarh. Prof. B.S. Chavan Director of GRIID, Prof Priti Arun Joint Director of GRIID and Dr Vani Ratnam Principal of GRIID congratulated the students and their sports coach, Ms. Sheetal Negi.
