Badnore releases Chandigarh Road Safety Manual and Series of Books “ Towards Road Safety.”

Chandigarh.13 th February, 2020:    The Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Shri V.P. Singh Badnore today released 'CHANDIGARH ROAD SAFETY MANUAL' prepared by Mr. Harman Singh Sidhu, President, Arrive Safe for the benefit of existing road users.   The Chandigarh Road Safety manual aims to sensitize road users to adopt safe driving practices. The Manual comprehensively and insightfully discusses all challenges to driving whether relating to road conditions, weather, time of the day, visibility, nature of traffic, etc.   The Governor desired that this manual should be supplied to the drivers who appear for learner/renewal license at least 15 days in advance. Further, the Governor and Administrator, UT also released a series of three books "Towards Road Safety' as part of the curriculum for School children. Administrator inaugurated drug de addiction centre ‘ Rupantran Kendra’ at Model Jail Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 12th February 2020: Sh. VP Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator,   Chandigarh inaugurated drug de addiction centre named as ‘ Rupantran Kendra’ at Model Jail Chandigarh in the presence of Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator and other senior officials of Chandigarh Administration. The Administrator also inaugurated another project called ‘ Rupantran Project’   in collaboration with Psychology Department of Panjab University.   The aim of the project ‘Rupantran’ is to provide psychological counselling to the inmates and thereby transforming the lives of prisoners with an object to rehabilitate them. There will be standard operating procedure/protocol for counseling of habitual offenders. State Level Talent Hunt Prize Distribution for Children with Special Needs (CWSN)

Chandigarh.12th February,2020. In an attempt to honour the intellect and persistence of city’s Children with Special Needs, a State-Level Talent Hunt Prize Distribution Ceremony was held at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 10 (GMSSS-10) Chandigarh on Wednesday. The ceremony was organised by Samagra Shiksha, Education Department, Chandigarh to solidify the hunch of positive individualism among children with special needs (CWSN). Today’s event was dedicated to   a girl child with Special Needs Prerna from GMSSS- Dhanas, the brand ambassador of Education Department, Chandigarh and CCPCR, the tribute was paid posthumously to Prerna by Mr. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education and Sr. Officers of Education Department. Deputy Commissioner convenes meeting to tackle noise pollution

Chandigarh, February 11:To Tackle the Noise pollution, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, IAS,   Deputy Commissioner, UT Chandigarh today convened a meeting of all SDMs along with all stakeholder departments at his office. Issues with respect to parameters of sound pollution in different zones of City was discussed at length. The DC emphasized that all the departments must strive to make sure that the level of sound is in complete conformity with the parameters laid down by the Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court while disposing the CWP No 6213 of 2016 (O&M).   Further, the DC said that as per the directions of the court, it is to be ensured that no loudspeaker or Public Address System shall be used by any person including religious bodies in Temples, Mosques and Gurudwaras without written permission of the even during day time and that too by getting an undertaking that noise level would not exceed permissible level. Adviser reviews Tricity Transport Issues

Chandigarh, 11th February 2020: A meeting on Transport issues of tricity was held today, under the chairmanship of Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator in the presence of Sh. A K Singla, Secretary Transport, Chandigarh, K Shiva Prasad, Principal Secretary Transport, Government of Punjab, Sh Umashanker, Additional Secretary, Transport, Sh Shashank Anand, SSP Traffic and Sh. Virender Singh Dahiya, Additional Secretary Transport , Government of Haryana and other senior officials of Chandigarh Administration. Firstly the issue of exemption of payment on State Road Tax on tricity busses was discussed wherein both the States have agreed in principal regarding exemption of tax. This was a long pending issue for UT. The UT was not charging road tax on other States Transport Vehicles but it was force to pay to Haryana.
