Launch of “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 15th March, 2019: The Indian Medical Association, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Association of Allopathic Doctors today launched a first-of-its-kind campaign to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh on 19th May, 2019. The launch took place in the presence of Deputy Commissioner cum Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.  To promote the message of “Voting is a must for Healthy Democracy” a stamp was also launched by the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector 16, in the presence of Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, DC Chandigarh, which will be stamped on OPD cards of all the patients of the hospital and its allied dispensaries, including the Civil Hospital, Manimajra, Civil Hospital, Sector 22, and Civil Hospital, Sector 45....

Meeting of District MCMC held

Chandigarh, 14th March 2019: A meeting of District Media Certification and Monitoring Committee was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Additional Chief Electoral Officer cum Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh. The District Media Certification and Monitoring Committee undertake activities related to certification of advertisements of political nature and monitoring of paid news. After the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct, it is mandatory that any registered political party, any candidate, any group organization/ association or any individual who wishes to give a advertisement of political nature needs a pre certification from the District level committee. Notice Issued for Violation of Model Code of Conduct

Chandigarh, 13th March 2019: In regard to the news items published on 13th March in Newspapers Dainik Bhaskar “ BJP pradehadhyaksh ne kiya achar sanhita ka ulanghan, 3 community center me ki meeting”, Dainik Jagran “ 3 community centres me Sanjay Tandon ne li workers ki meeting, charge bhi nahi diya” Hindustan Times “ Poll Code Violation: Ruling BJP holds election meets in community centers” Show cause notices have been issues to 7 representatives of Politicals Parties and 3 officials of Municipal Corporation. Meeting held with the representatives from various political parties

Chandigarh, 13th March, 2019:  A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha with the representatives from various political parties. In the meeting, Sh. Training imparted to all nodal officers

Chandigarh, 11th March, 2019:  The Election Department Chandigarh today imparted training to all nodal officers and AROs at the UT guest house, Chandigarh. During the training program detailed power point presentation was delivered imparted by state level master trainers. The training focused on EVM management and training, online complaints, C-vigil, static surveillance and flying squads, Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System & Postal Ballot, IT application, Suvidha Sugam Samadhan, Model Code of Conduct, Media Monitoring, Video Viewing & Surveillance Teams and Election Expenditure Monitoring by the representatives of Election Commission of India.  The session was chaired by Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, U.T Chandigarh, who directed the officials to ensure that all arrangements and preparedness is fully in place to facilitate smooth elections.

Polling of Parliamentary Constituency of Chandigarh on 19th May 2019

Chandigarh, 10th March 2019: The Election Commission of India has announced Elections to Lok Sabha today i.e. on 10.3.2019 and with the announcement of the Election Programme, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force. As per the programme of elections announced by the Election Commission of India, Polling of Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency will be on 19-05-2019. As per the Electoral Roll finally published on 28.1.2019, the total electors of Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency are 6,19,249 and the Service Electors are 355. 597 Polling Stations have been setup in this Constituency, out of which 212 polling station falls under sensitive categories and total 191 polling stations locations.
