HIV Awareness Programme for Youth Groups

Chandigarh 22 nd  December 2017:  To spread the HIV/AIDS awareness amongst Youth Groups, today i.e. 22th December, 2017, Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society, and TS, Central State Library, Sector 17, Chandigarh organized a HIV Awareness Programme for youth groups which saw the participation of approximately 70 visitors of library. Smt. Anju Gupta, Library Incharge shared that such programme provides an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the cause of HIV prevention & treatment, and draw attention about HIV epidemic around the world, to raise awareness about HIV. Dr. Jitender Dahiya, Assistant Director, Chandigarh SACS told about Myths and misconception related to AIDS while teaching the modes of transmission and preventive measures. He asked audience to come forward for HIV Testing and Voluntary Blood donation and explained the AIDS related services available in Chandigarh. Home Secretary Launches the Food Safety & Hygiene Training Programme- Parivartan

Chandigarh 22 nd  December 2017:  Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary-Secretary Health, U.T. Chandigarh launched the Food Safety & Hygiene Training Programme “ PARIVARTAN ” today at Indian Medical Association, Sector-35, Chandigarh. The said training program was organized by Kandhari Beverages Pvt. Ltd (Bottler of Coco cola India Pvt. Ltd.) in collaboration with Department of Food Safety & Standards, Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh. Under this programme, the trainers will train the city road side and small food vendors in a specially designed Bus, which is provided by Coca Cola India. The bus is having classroom type facility with an inbuilt LCD screen. The bus will be stationed at different sectors, villages of the city where there is dominance of street and small food vendors. The vendors will get training on how to maintain hygiene and sanitation in their food cart/ premises and are will be made aware about the safety of their food products.

Chandigarh 22 nd  December 2017:  Whereas, the Government of India has implemented Good & Service Tax (GST) w.e.f. 1/07/2017 and has further amended the GST rates on various commodities through various notifications, from time to time.  Whereas, it has brought to the notice by the Department of Food & Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Legal Metrology that the suppliers (earlier known as sellers) are not passing on the benefit of reduction of taxes, to the consumers within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh.  It is pertinent to mention that the GST Council, in its meeting held on 10 th  November, 2017 at Guwahati (Assam) in order to ensure the reduction of prices, recommended the reduction of taxes on more than 170 items.  Subsequently to give effect to the recommendation of the council, notifications were issued giving list of items on which taxes has been reduced. Chandigarh 22 nd  December 2017 : In pursuance of the DO issued by the Ministry of Urban development, Govt. of India, and provisions of Swachh Sarvekshan-2018, all toilets located in fuel stations/pumps in the Union Territory of Chandigarh are hereby allowed to be accessible to the general public, without any user charges. All the owners of the fuel stations located in the UT of Chandigarh, are advised to ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of toilets along with installation of proper signage having ICT based solution to capture real-time feedback from the community.

Governor Inaugurates 450 kWp Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant at GMCH 32

Singh Badnore, the Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh inaugurated the 450 kWp Rooftop Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant at two wheeler parking area of Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sec.32, today in the presence of Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh. Sh. Chandigarh, 19 th December, 2017: Chandigarh Housing Board has allowed need based changes in its DUs through various orders from time to time subject to conditions mentioned therein.  There are many allottees who have already made additional constructions in their dwelling units which do not fulfill the conditions mentioned in need based changes orders and hence cannot be regularized.
