11th Chandigarh National Crafts Mela at Kalagram Chandigarh – Day 2nd

Chandigarh.16 th November, 2019. The second day of Eleventh Chandigarh National Crafts Mela witnessed shopping enthusiast from tricity in great numbers, today. The Mela is a 10-day affair that takes place every year at Kalagram organized by North Zone Cultural Center (NZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India and the Department of Cultural Affairs, UT. It provides platform to the craftsmen and artists from all over India to showcase and sell their finished products directly to the buyers. Being a weekend, the fair received a whooping number of buyers for the handicraft products displayed by craftsmen from West to East and North to South. The jute bags from Kolkata, glassware and crockery from Khurja, Merrut, carpets from Badhoi, jewellery and ethnic wear from Jaipur and shawls from Kullu and Srinagar are attracting people hugely. Fisheries Department released 3000 fingerlings in Sukhna Lake

  Chandigarh, 15th November 2019: The officials of the Fisheries Department released 3000 fingerlings of indigenous varieties of fishes i.e. Mrigal, Rohu, Catla and Grass Crap in Sukhna Lake, today to maintain ecological balance of the Lake. Sh. Ajay Singla, Secretary Animal Husbandry & Fisheries, U.T. Chandigarh graced the occasion with his presence.   Dr. Kanwarjit Singh, Joint Director Animal Husbandry & Fisheries U.T. Chandigarh stated that the stocking of fish seed in the Sukhna Lake has become necessary for the purpose of maintaining balance in aquatic life. One day workshop on Creative Play for Children at Risk

State Adoption Resource Agency, under Union Territory Child Protection Society, Chandigarh in collaboration with Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), New Delhi and Department of Pediatrics, PGIMER, Chandigarh organized   “One day workshop on Creative Play for Children at Risk” by renowned U.K. based, Neuro Dramatic Play Therapist Prof. Sue Jennings, at APC Auditorium PGIMER,   Chandigarh,today. The Workshop was organized to impart training to stakeholders especially officials working under Child Protection Mechanism and Child Care Institute’s in order to equip them with the knowledge and skills on Creative Play, in order to deal with children at risk and in need of care and protection. The eleventh Chandigarh National Crafts Mela kick started at Kalagram, Manimajra

Chandigarh, 15th November 3019: Comprehending to the theme 'West to East', artisans from Gujarat to Nagaland and also from Kashmir to Telangana and Tamil Nadu, has put up 200 stalls, selling handicrafts, handlooms, fabrics, home decor items and much more. The Mela was inaugurated by Shri Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Finance Secretary, Chandigarh Administration. The event is a joint venture of North Zone Cultural Center, Ministry of Culture,Government of India. Folk dancers from Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, made presentations on the opening day welcoming the chief guest. Awareness and Capacity Building Program on Child Adoption and Trauma Informed Care Session

Chandigarh, 14th November 2019: The office of State Adoption Resource Agency, Chandigarh in collaboration with Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), New Delhi and Department of Pediatrics, PGIMER, Chandigarh organized an “Awareness and Capacity Building Program on Child Adoption and Trauma Informed Care” at Bhargava and APC Auditorium PGIMER,Chandigarh today. The Chief Guest in the Program was Sh. B.L Sharma, IAS, Secretary Social Welfare, Chandigarh. The purpose of the program was to generate awareness among stakeholders regarding the importance of Family Care in the life of an Abandoned, Surrendered and Orphan Child. Children’s Day celebrations at Le Corbusier Centre

Chandigarh,14th November,2019 : The Children’s Day was celebrated today at Le Corbusier Centre, Sector 19, Madhya Marg with a series of activities organized in collaboration with Organic Sharing, Chandigarh. A unique exhibition of stamps issued by the Postal department of India on Children's Day every year since 1957 was held by Rakesh Walia- a keen and renowned philatelist. Children were intrigued by the interesting stamps released through the years that showcase the changing issues and themes in India. Mr. Walia informed the students that a competition is held every year to choose the image for the stamp and a first Cover is also released on Children’s day every year. 11th Chandigarh National Crafts Mela from 15th-24th Nov at Kalagram

Chandigarh: 13 th November 2019: The Chandigarh National Crafts Mela will make a comeback with its 11 th edition from November 15 to 24 at Kalagram, Chandigarh. The event has been organized by North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India) and U.T. Administration, Chandigarh.  National Crafts Mela is a unique event that showcases the diversity of handicrafts, handlooms, folk dances and music. It reflects the cultural diversity of the country. Folk artists and cultural groups from all over the country will perform live during the ten-day event. The theme this year is “West to East” (W.E.) featuring handicrafts and foods from Rajasthan, Gujarat to Bihar and Odisha. Rail Under Bridge inaugurated at Manimajra Railway Crossing

Chandigarh, 11th November,2019: Smt Kirron Kher, Member Parliament   inaugurated Rail Under Bridge (RUB) at Manimajra railway crossing under 126 in the presence of Sh. Manoj Parida,Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh and other officers of UT Administration. After the inauguration, the MP said that this project will bring relief for the residents of Manimajra. It will provide additional connectivity between Chandigarh and Panchkula and will also facilitate smooth movement of traffic between housing board Manimajra and Chandigarh. Smt. Kher had laid the foundation stone of RUB on 14th August, 2017.     The RUB was the long-pending demand of residents as earlier they would remain stuck in jams for hours.
