Survey by the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development

Chandigarh, 22 nd July , 2016:   The Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development got a survey conducted from two NGOs namely Bharat Prakarsh Foundation and Vatsal Chhaya Trust already associated with the department.As per the survey reports of the NGOs the rent problem is the common complaint of the rented Anganwadi centers and people are not willing to rent out the rooms at Rs 750/- per month so the rent should be increased. Some centers are running in verandas, miniscule entrances, small space in gallery, in small rooms with beds and other furnitureitems .Better premises need to be located so the existing anganwadi centers can be shifted to more spacious and better accommodation. An exercise has been made by the Field Supervisors also and big rooms have been located in their areas. Health Department Organizes Health Awareness Camp/ Advocacy Workshop

Chandigarh, 22 nd July , 2016:   As a preparatory activity under the guidance of Director Health & Family Welfare, UT-Chandigarh the Malaria wing of Health Department, UT-Chandigarh today organized Health Awareness camp/ advocacy workshop at Kabadi Market Industrial Area Phase-I, as a part of observance of July as Anti Dengue Month.           The awareness camp was attended by Dr. Sonia Arora Medical Officer Incharge CITCO Dispensary, Dr. Inderpal (Epidemiologist), Vandhana Thakur Entomologist, representatives from Haryana Roadways Workshop, CTU workshop, Market Association, colony no.4, Verka Milk Booth and staff from the Malaria wing participated in the camp along with general community of the area.           Dr. Sonia Arora assured the gathering that the workers will continue their anti dengue activities in the area with full zeal in this season with support of market workers. Effective Implementation of Sections 3 and 19 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace

Chandigarh, 22 nd July , 2016:   The writ petition ( Jagdeep Singh Versus Union of India and others) was filed seeking directions to put in place sufficient mechanism to ensure effective implementation of Sections 3 and 19 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (‘Act’ for short) to prevent and prohibit sexual harassment at workplace in Chandigarh Police department as well as other departments of UT, Chandigarh, besides, further directions. The petitioner felt that sexual harassment of women at workplace was a matter of concern for all. It was, inter alia, contended on behalf of the petitioner that he had carried out a survey with many women constables regarding the sexual harassment meted out to them. Drive against Diarrhoea- Intensive Diarrhoea Control Fortnight

Chandigarh, 22 nd July , 2016:  “ Health and Hygiene should be our priority these days for prevention of Diarrhoea.” emphasized  Dr. Vandana Gupta while appreciating school students at Govt. Sr. Sc. School, Mauli Jagran for enacting a skit on Diarrhoea Control. Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) is being observed from 11 th July, 2016 to 24 th July, 2016 in Chandigarh by Health and Family Welfare Department, U.T. Chandigarh. Many activities were carried out for generating awareness among public regarding Diarrhoea- and its prevention. Four schools in the slum areas were taken up for spreading messages in respective areas i.e. Maulijargan, Hallomajra, Bapudham Colony and Sarangpur. Amendment in the return form VAT-15

Chandigarh, 20 th   July, 2016:   The department of Excise and Taxation, Chandigarh, on Tuesday issued a notification amending the return form VAT-15 i.e. the Quarterly return. The need for an amendment in the Chandigarh Value Added Rules arose after a Notification amending section 13 of the Act has been passed by the Government of India restricting the input tax credit being claimed by the dealers in Chandigarh.           As per the notification, from the current return period i.e. 01.04.2016 to 30.06.2016 , the input tax credit would not be allowed on the stock in hand and the provisions for declaring the same has now been made in the returns to be filed by all the dealers. The department has advised the tax payers to file the returns for the Quarter ending 30.06.2016 in consonance with the amended section and deposit the tax due on the value addition after carrying forward the Input tax credit on the closing stock and not adj...

Fisheries Department Initiative to Fight Malaria, Dengue in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 20 th   July, 2016:           The Fisheries Department of Chandigarh is working jointly with Health Department to control and fight against mosquito borne diseases like malaria, dengue which have become a common name in every household.  Particularly in ongoing rainy season mosquitoes breed very rapidly causing the spread of malaria & dengue.                       The health department has identified stagnant water points in various locations of the city where the officials of both departments are releasing Gambusia fish, commonly known as anti larve fish as it eats larve of mosquito and prevent its further breeding. Chandigarh, 17 th  July, 2016:   Capitol Complex, Chandigarh has been added to the prestigious world heritage list. The final decision of inclusion was taken in the meeting held by UNESCO in Turkey this Saturday.   We have been inscribed in a Trans Continental serial Nomination. Various sites from seven countries — France, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Argentina, Japan and India were listed to show the global reach of the works of Le Corbusier. Capitol Complex, designed by Le Corbusier also was included in the entry which represented India for the Heritage Status.
