Commendations certificate on the occasion of Republic/Independence Day

Chandigarh, 10 th  January, 2019:  Chandigarh Administration, on the recommendations of committee meant for grant of commendations of committee meant for grant of commendations certificate on the occasion of Republic/Independence Day has decided that all the recommendations for the award of Commendation Certificate will be entertained online at  http://chandigarh.gov.in You are accordingly, again requested to forward the names of such persons (officials and non –officials) online at  http://chandigarh.gov.in . for the award to Commendation Certificate. While recommending the names for award of commendation certificate, it may be kept in view that the r ecommendation/citations  for non-officials, the recommendations may be supported by attested copies of documents. It may please be noted that  no recommendation will be entertained after 15.01.2019.

Clarification regarding news item published on 08.01.2019 under the heading “70% Govt. teachers kept busy outside classes in 2018” on the first/front page of HT City Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 10 th  January, 2019:  Attention is invited to the news item which was published in HT City Chandigarh on 08.01.2019 bearing the title  “70% Govt. teachers kept busy outside classes in 2018”.  The said report has been published ostensibly on the basis of information collected under the RTI Act 2005.  The perusal of the report shows that  information as claimed to have been collected under the RTI Act has been presented in such a manner as to present an extremely distorted picture with the mala-fide motive of maligning the image of School Education Department of Chandigarh .  This claim of the Education Department gets substantiated from the following facts: Ø   Each and every Govt. 3 day workshop titled “Empathy & Architecture”

Chandigarh, 9 th  January 2019:  A 3 day workshop titled “Empathy & Architecture” is being organised at Chandigarh College of Architecture from 10th -12th January 2019. The Workshop is a collaborative effort of academicians and working professionals from field of architecture. The idea behind the workshop is to dig deep into understanding of Empathy and see how as designers, planners and engineers we can create spaces which are impactful, inspiring and thoughtfully designed. The 40 participants of the workshop include people from different domains including Architecture, Law, Engineering and Journalism.  The award ceremony of the design competition would be held on the last day of the workshop.  The workshop would include panel discussions and a design competition entailing the adaptive reuse of a portion of the Beant Singh Memorial, Sector 42, Chandigarh. 

E auction of various commercial, residential and industrial sites to begin in Chandigarh

7th January 2019: Chandigarh Administration is about to begin the e auction process of various commercial, residential and industrial sites in Chandigarh. 10 residential sites on freehold basis,13 commercial sites on leasehold basis and 1 industrial site on leasehold basis are proposed to be e auctioned. The auction will be made public on 9th January 2019 at 9:00 AM and the documents can be submitted/EMD can be paid from 9th january till 23rd January 2019. Document/EMD approvals will be given from 24th January till 30th January. In addition to this the Estate Department will create a help desk at Estate Office Chandigarh on the above dates to create digital signatures of the applicants. Bidding will begin from 31st January (9:00 AM) till 4th February 2019 (till 4 PM)

7th January 2019:  The U.T. Power men  Union has given a call for observance of two day strike on 08.01.2019 & 09.01.2019 . Chandigarh Administration has always been sympathetic to the genuine demands of the Electricity Employees and there is no cause for any strike by the Employees.  The Principle of “No work No Pay” shall be strictly enforced.  The employees are, therefore, advised to attend duty.  The defaulting employees will also be liable for other disciplinary action.  Necessary arrangements for maintaining the continuity of power supply though has been made but chances of failure of power supply due to any untoward incident cannot be ruled out.  The Electricity consumers of U.T. Review by Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner on Election Preparedness of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh in connection with Lok Sabha Elections- 2019

Chandigarh, 7th January 2019: Sh. Sunil Arora, Chief Election commissioner of India today reviewed the election preparedness of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh in connection with the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections in 2019. The Commission began the review with a meeting with the Chief Electoral Officers of Punjab, Haryana and UT of Chandigarh and discussed multifarious issues related to provision of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) at the Polling Stations, strengthening of manpower and infrastructure of CEO’s offices, filling up of all vacant positions of elections functionaries at the field level, availability of EVMs/VVPATs and other election material, adequate budget provisions etc. The Chief Electoral officers of Punjab, Haryana and UT of Chandigarh also briefed the Chief Election commissioner (CEC) about the progress of Special Summary Revision (w.r.t 01-01-2019), Voter Helpline (1950) and other IT related Applications.   This was followed by a comprehensive d...
