Celebration of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week 20th-26th January, 2020 to celebrate National Girl Child Day (24th January 2020)

Chandigarh.22nd January,2020.To create awareness, sensitise people and engage community across UT, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week is being celebrated from 20th-26th January, 2020 to celebrate National Girl Child Day on 24th January, 2020 under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. This week is being celebrated to commemorate 5th Anniversary of this scheme. Various activities have been undertaken for the awareness of the masses during the weeklong campaign by different departments of Chandigarh Administration. The Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration has organised six interaction-cum-awareness sessions on Gender Sensitisation with the community across different places of UT. Administrator holds Apex Committee Meeting of Tricity

Chandigarh, 22nd January 2019: The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore held a second meeting of Apex Committee of Tricity in the presence of Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Smt. Keshni Anand,       Chief Secretary Haryana, Sh. Karan Avtar, Chief Secretary Punjab and other senior officials of Punjab and Haryana. At the outset, the Administrator thanked everyone for their active participation in this Tricity meeting whose main objective is to work for the coordinated development of Chandigarh and the satellite cities in Punjab and Haryana. TRANSPORT NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 194(E) of the Motor Vehicle Act,1988 (Central Act No. 59 of 1988) as amended from time to time and all other powers enabling him in this behalf, the Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh is pleased to specify PCR vehicles of Chandigarh Police as an “Emergency vehicles”, with immediate effect.

102749 no. of children immunized with Pulse Polio Drops in UT Chandigarh

Chandigarh, January 21, 2020:: 102749 no of children vaccinated against the target of 92911 during the three day National Immunization Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond, Zindagi Ki’ in UT Chandigarh conducted from 19th – 21st January, 2020. Special emphasis was laid upon the high risk/ vulnerable areas. The volunteers did a commendable job going house to house and vaccinating the children who were not brought to the booths on the first day. Volunteers pasted the stickers of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ outside the houses covered during the round.  Their efforts and good coverage has been documented by the World Health Organization (WHO) Monitors who have visited the field especially the high risk/ vulnerable areas for the supervision and monitoring purposes. Celebration of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week (20th-26th January) and National Girl Child Day (24th January)

Chandigarh, 21st January 2020: The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week is being celebrated from 20th-26th January, 2020 to create awareness, sensitise people and engage community across the districts under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. This event also marks the 5th Anniversary of this scheme. As per the field Plan to celebrate various activities under BBBP Scheme for the awareness of the masses during the weeklong campaign, the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration has organised six sessions on "Gender Sensitisation". These talk shows have been organised at Dadu Majra Colony, Bapu Dham Colony and Ramdarbar.  Various issues related to Gender Roles, Gender Equality and discrimination faced by women at a larger scale have been discussed with the community. Chandigarh along with third Party Auditor appointed by FSSAI audited the Campus “Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector-11, Chandigarh on the set parameters as defined by the FSSAI under the initiative “Eat Right Campus” by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
