Adviser inaugurates Road Embedded Traffic Light signal at Sukhna Lake

Chandigarh, 4th October 2019: The Engineering Department, Chandigarh Administration achieved yet another landmark by providing Road Embedded Traffic Light signal on Uttar Marg   adjacent to parking lot of Sukhna lake. The signal was inaugurated by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to Administator today. The visitors coming at lake park their vehicles at the parking that is at the opposite side of the lake and cross the road to visit lake . Though, the stop lines and zebra crossing are marked on the road, yet due to heavy influx of visitors, more safety measures are required for public safety. A decision was taken in this regard to provide this road embedded signal, so as to provide a light actuated barrier to the traffic for safety of the visitors crossing the road. This will eliminate the possibility of any mishappening. Chandigarh, 4th October 2019: Chandigarh College of Architecture celebrated Le Corbusier Day on today by holding its annual convocation ceremony with the Le Corbusier Memorial Lecture by eminent art historian Prof. B.N.Goswamy. Chandigarh Housing Board to Organize Workshop on Need Based Changes

Chandigarh, 4th October 2019: Certain need based changes in dwelling units of Chandigarh Housing Board were recently permitted. Thereafter a Penalty Scheme was introduced which provides temporary exemption from immediate demolition upto 31.12.2020 so that the allottees may get some time to rectify the violations in conformity with the need based changes orders. There is an important role of the qualified empanelled Structural Engineer and empanelled Architects with regard to the permitted Need Based Changes and the Penalty Scheme. CITCO sets up its first compressed Natural Gas (CNG) dispensing pump on the Madhya Marg.

Chandigarh, October 1, 2019 :  In order to meet the continuously growing demand for CNG in Chandigarh, CITCO has set up its first compressed Natural Gas  (CNG)  dispensing pump on the Madhya Marg,  Sector 17 Chandigarh here today . Adviser Launches replica of Pierre Jeanneret’s paddle boat at Sukhna Lake

Chandigarh, 1st October 2019: Chandigarh today rediscovered an important part of its history when the first prototype of the paddle boat again sailed on the waters of the Sukhna Lake with the launch by Adviser to Administrator, Sh Manoj Parida. Since Le Corbusier clearly prohibited the use of motor boats on the Lake to maintain its peace and tranquility, the first paddle boat for the Sukhna Lake was designed by Pierre Jeanneret in 1954. This paddle boat showcased the versatility of Jeanneret as a designer and had the same aesthetics as his buildings and furniture. However some years back these boats were removed from the Lake and later disposed off. Under the project Building Chandigarh, French artist Pierrick Mouton in collaboration with Alliance Française de Chandigarh developed a replica of the same boat which was launched in the Sukhna Lake. Demolition drive at Revenue Estate of Village Khuda Alisher and Village Kaimbwala,Chandigarh by  Land Acquisition Office

Chandigarh, 30th September 2019: A demolition drive was carried out today at the Revenue Estate of Village Khuda Alisher, Chandigarh and Village Kaimbwala (Catchment area of Sukhna Lake) by the Land Acquisition Office, Chandigarh led by Ms. Nazuk Kumar, Land Acquisition Officer.    As per the directions of the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court, around 10 illegal structures were demolished by the Enforcement Wing accompanied by police force.   Further, the villagers were made aware about the Periphery Act. These types of drives will be carried out in future on regular basis to check the illegal construction in periphery area of Union Territory, Chandigarh.

“Low Price Stalls” to distribute onions at the five Community Centres in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 27th September 2019: ​In order to control the rising prices of onion, the Department of Food & Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Legal Metrology, Chandigarh has started “Low Price Stalls” to distribute onions at controlled price at the five Community Centres from 26.09.2019. Taking the initative further , the Department continuously on the second day supplied Onions for public sale to   different pockets of the city. Since the response was good from the public on the first day , the quantity of onion to be sold at different centres was   almost doubled. ​Total 16 Quintal of onion were sold till 05:00 p.m. @ Rs. 32/- per kg at all the following five designated Community Centres of U.T., Chandigarh located at: 1.  Ban on single use of plastics in UT Chandigarh

27th September 2019: Environment Department, Chandigarh Administration has issued a Notification today on putting the ban on single use of plastics in UT Chandigarh.   As per Notification, no person including a shopkeeper, vendor, whole seller or retailer, trader, hawker or rehriwala etc. shall manufacture, store, import, sell, transport, supply or use following plastic/thermocol/Styrofoam items from the date of issuance of Notification except the items mentioned at Sr. No. 12 to 18, which shall be banned after 3 months from the date of issuance of present Notification :- 1) Single use plastic cutlery (plates, cups, glasses, bowls, forks, knives, spoons, stirrer and straw). 2) Thermocol/Styrofoam cutlery (plates, cups, glasses and bowls etc.). 3) Single use plastic containers (dish, bowl, trays, glasses, lids) less than 250 microns used for packaging/covering of food/liquid items. 4) Plastic (sold in the name of Silver/Aluminium) bag/pouch for packing food items. ...
