First Museum Festival to Commemorate the International Museum Day

Chandigarh, 18 th  May, 2016: The Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh organized the first Museum Festival to commemorate the International Museum Day observed worldwide on 18th May. As part of the festival, a series of workshops spread over three days have been organised for children. Director Museum & Art Gallery, Smt. Kriti Garg, IAS inaugurated the Animation and Comic Book Art workshop on 18th May which was facilitated by Subhasis Neogi of the Puppet Theatre, Chandigarh who has an experience of almost 10 years in exploring the potential of different media in education. The workshop was attended by 31 enthusiastic students from different schools of the city. The children drew their own comic story either creating their own characters or picking them up from mythology. Consumer Price Index Number of Chandigarh Centre for the Half Year Ending March, 2016

Chandigarh, 18 th  May, 2016:  The half yearly Cost of Living Index Numbers of Chandigarh Centre (Base 2001 = 100) for industrial workers, issued by Labour Bureau, Shimla for the months of October, 2015 to March, 2016 are 1357, 1378, 1368, 1373, 1373 and 1389 respectively.  Thus the average (calculated for six months) cost of living index numbers as on 31.03.2016 is 1373. The previous average cost of living index numbers was 1339 points for the quarter ending 30.09.2015. Therefore, increase in average cost of living index number is 34 points. The per point neutralization in minimum rates of wages for monthly rated employees under the Minimum Wages Act is Rs. 7/- per point.  Thus minimum rates of wages for each category of employees have been increased by Rs. 238/- p.m. on the increase of 34 points. Chandigarh, 18 th  May, 2016: Roopa, a girl of 16 years of age, suffering from Tuberculosis and bed ridden, had lost all hopes of recovery. Because of poor financial condition, her family was not in the position to give proper medication. Her case came into light when local Aanganwadi worker Smt Neelam of Aanganwadi Centre No. 12, Mauli Jagran, where Roopa was enrolled, called up 181 (child helpline) Chandigarh. Helpline immediately took notice of the matter and she was shifted to GMCH- 32 by Women and Child Helpline where her treatment lasted for two and half months. After proper medication and advise of doctors, she was shifted to Swadhar Shelter Home,Nari Niketan Sector-26, Chandigarh, a unit of Chandigarh Child and Women Development Corporation Limited, under the aegis of Social Welfare Department. Eligibility Criteria for Enrolment as Priority Households (AAY) Under the National Food Security Act, 2013

Chandigarh, 17th May, 2016 : In exercise of the powers conferred by section 40 (1) and (2) (a) of the National Food Security Act, 2013, the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh is pleased to lay down the following eligibility criteria for enrolment as Priority Households (AAY) under the National Food Security Act, 2013. 1.      The households having gross annual income upto  Rs. 1.50 lacs from all sources for inclusion as Priority Households and Rs. 60,000/- from all sources  for inclusion as AAY households. 2.      The beneficiary shall be the resident of UT Chandigarh.
