CTU puts into operation new fully automatic washing plant

Chandigarh, 26 th  April, 2018: CTU Buses are an integral part of the city’s beautiful outlook that anyone can hardly ignore. In its endeavour of giving more clean buses to commuters, CTU put into operation new fully automatic washing plant with two lanes today in Depot 2 in order to augment the capacity for washing of its local and intercity buses fleet. The newly installed plants were inaugurated by Sh. B.L Sharma, IAS, Secretary Transport, Sh. Amit Talwar, PCS, Director Transport and other CTU officials were also present on the occasion. These new plants have state of the art computerized numerical controlled washing features and will help the undertaking to wash 300 of its Intercity and local buses of Depot 1 and Depot 2 on daily basis. Earlier with the old single plant which was more than 28 years old, buses were being washed on alternate day as the capacity of earlier plant was half of the new Capacity.

New Commissioner for Chandigarh Right to Service Commission

Chandigarh, 26 th April 2018 : The Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, appointed by the President under Article 239 of the Constitution, in consultation with and concurrence/approval of the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, is pleased to appoint Sh. K.K Jindal, IAS ( Retd. ) as Commissioner of the Chandigarh Right to Service Commission.

e-auction of vehicle registration numbers of new series "CH01-BS"

Chandigarh, 26 th  April, 2018:   It is for the information to the general public/residents of Chandigarh that the registration for participating in e-auction of vehicle registration numbers of new series " CH01-BS " for special/choice registration numbers 0001 to 9999 will start from 01.05.2018 (10:00 AM) and will continue till 07.05.2018 (05:00 PM) and the e-auction will start on 08.05.2018 (10:00 AM) and will continue till 10.05.2018 (05:00PM). The owner of the vehicle can register himself/herself on the National Transport website: https://parivahan.gov.in/fancy and the link of the same is available on the Chandigarh Administration, Transport Department website: www.chdtransport.gov.in and obtain the Unique Acknowledgement Number (UAN). World Malaria Day- “Ready to beat Malaria”

Chandigarh, 26 th April, 2018: As per the guidelines of WHO and Directorate of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, New Delhi. The Malaria Wing of Health Department, UT-Chandigarh organized the World Malaria Day-2018. Safety of women on roads

Chandigarh, 24 th  April, 2018:  The Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court has taken suo-moto notice on the issue of safety of women (including Sikh Women) while driving or riding two wheelers of any class or description and exemption given to them from wearing headgear under the Motor Vehicle Rules, in CWP No. 27609 of 2017 (Court on its own Motion Vs. Chandigarh Administration and Others) and : Whereas, the Chandigarh Administration has accordingly considered the aspect of safety of women, including that of the Sikh Women who are not wearing turban, particularly in view of the fatalities occurring  in road accidents; Whereas, the safety of women on roads being a priority of the Government, the Chandigarh Administration proposes to make changes to the Chandigarh Motor Vehicle Rules, 1990, as under; The words “ a Sikh woman wearing a turban ” instead of words “ or a Woman ” are proposed to be substituted in Rule 193 of the Chandigarh Motor Vehicle Rules, 1990...
