73rd Independence Day Celebrations

Chandigarh, 15 August, 2019:  Chandigarh Administration today celebrated the 73 rd  Independence Day at Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh. The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh Hon’ble Sh.V.P.Badnore, was the chief guest of the occasion. The Administrator unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the various contingents of Police and NCC Cadets participating in the Independence Day Parade. Chandigarh is selected to participate in Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) from India

Chandigarh, 13th August 2019: From India, UT, Chandigarh is selected to participate in Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) which will be conducted in 2021. All Schools i.e. Government, Aided, Private Unaided and Central Govt. Schools will participate in the PISA. PISA tests the skills and knowledge of the students aged between 15 years & 3 months and 16 years & 2 months in three areas i.e. Mathematical, Scientific and Reading literacy. In order to make students PISA ready, material in the form of question banks and modules is being prepared at UT level with the inputs from CBSE. Moving ahead in this direction, Sh. B.L. Review meeting regarding the status of projects under Smart City Mission

Chandigarh, 13th August 2019: A meeting to review the status of projects under Smart City Mission Chandigarh was held under the Chairmanship of Smt. Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament, in the presence of senior officers of Chandigarh Administration.  Sh. K.K. Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh who is also CEO, Chandigarh Smart City Ltd briefed the Chairperson that tenders for projects work Rs. 666.32 Crore has been issued by Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. which includes major projects like Rehabilitation and upgradtion of 5 STP’s and construction of 1 STP at Kishangarh with total cost of Rs. 550.00 Crore, Public Bike Sharing, Legacy Waste Bio Mining at Daddumajra and E-governance services among other projects in the city and the tenders for major of these projects will be finalized by the end of August, 2019.  During the meeting Hon’ble MP emphasized on expediting the work in the city to give timely benefits to Chandigarh citizens and recommended to red...

Administrator Launches Registration of New Vehicles (Non- transport) at Dealer Point

Chandigarh, 13th August 2019:  The long awaited project i.e. “Registration of New Vehicles (Non- transport) at Dealer Points has been inaugurated today by Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh at UT State Guest House, Chandigarh. At the onset, Sh. Virat, RLA, Chandigarh gave a presentation on the earlier registration process and the changes in the current process i.e. Registration at Dealer point. He explained in details the advantages of the dealer point registration which can be summarized as below: 1)   Now the customer will be getting a regular number after deposition of Road Tax and required documents at the dealer point. 2)   Now the file for registration (Non-transport) will be prepared by the dealer and submitted to the RLA office, thereby creating convenience to the general public. 3)   There won’t any physical inspection by the RLA office and the consumer won’t have to go t...

Chandigarh, 13 th August 2019: The second Mentorship Programme for M.Arch students was successfully conducted at Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA), Chandigarh.   The Principal, Dean of Academics and core faculty of M.Arch also participated in the daylong event.   Dr Sangeeta Bagga, Principal, CCA said in her welcome address that the postgraduate course at Chandigarh College of Architecture was a long felt need of students and this year all twenty seats were filled through all India competition.   She also informed that students are deeply enriched by the mentorship which aims at bringing them into the mainstream of postgraduate studies. Elante Mall Bomb Threat Call

Chandigarh, 12th August 2019: A thorough search operation was carried out today by Chandigarh Police in and around Elante Mall. All field units of Chandigarh Police were swung into action. It is now confirmed that there is no bomb or any other threat in Elante Mall. Search operation has finished and mall is open to public. The caller who supplied false information to Chandigarh police control room is being booked under relevant provisions of law. Chandigarh police is close to identifying this fake caller who used VOIP to place this call.

Governor of Punjab & Administrator released  CCPCR Annual Report-2019

Chandigarh. 9 th  August, 2019. Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) has prepared its fifth Annual report for the year 2018-19. CCPCR's endeavour during the year was to focus on creating a happy childhood by making Chandigarh a Child-Friendly City.   To make people aware about the activities are undertaken by the Commission, CCPCR releases its Annual Report for Financial Year 2018-19 released by  His Excellency Sh.
