Chandigarh.12th March, 2020.The Department of Social Welfare Women and Child Development has always shown a great zeal when it comes to serving the society. The Nutrition fortnight has expanded its coverage in the Chandigarh UT  and its peripheries with the coverage of target beneficiaries as much as possible, with regards awareness and advocacy of positive behaviour changes for a healthier lifestyle.  In the on-going activities, a 'Low Cost - High Nutrition Recipe Competition' was organised at Manimajra Indira Colony, for generating awareness among community about the nutritious recipes at a very low cost for a healthy lifestyle. This was followed by a 'Poster Making Competition on the 5 Sutras of POSHAN' among the local beneficiaries, at Khuda Lahora village. Chandigarh, 11th March,2020: Poshan Abhiyaan intends to increase nutrition awareness among mothers of young children, adolescent girls, pregnant and lactating women, family members (husbands, father, mothers-in-law) and community members about key positive nutrition behaviours.   The month of March 2020, is the month of POSHAN Pakhwada and extensive IEC activities related to nutritional awareness are carried out at the grass root level. Chandigarh, 9th March 2020: As POSHAN Pakhwada is being celebrated in UT Chandigarh to enable awareness on the importance of nutrition and how individual families can easily access government services to supplement nutrition for their children and pregnant/lactating mothers. This year, the main focus is to increase Male Engagement in POSHAN Abhiyaan to improve Nutritional Outcomes. Chandigarh.8 th March,2020:   8 th of March evey year is celebrated worldwide as the International Women's Day, but the date assumes double importance in the Indian Context, as it marks the second anniversary of the Government of India's overarching campaign against malnutrition - the Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyan or the National Nutrition Mission. The U.T. of Chandigarh has been particularly enthusiastic about this initiative and has in the past made great strides in this regard, for which it has also been commended at the National fora. Poshan Pakhwada to begin from 8th March

Chandigarh, 6th March 2020:The Secretary of Social Welfare, Sh. Yashpal Garg presided over a meeting in the presence of Director of Social Welfare, Smt. Navjot Kaur and other senior officials of Chandigarh Administration regarding the activities to be carried out during the 2nd Anniversary celebration of  Poshan Pakhwada 2020. As per the Ministry of women and child development it will be celebrated from 8th march 2020 to 22nd march 2020.  During the meeting Director Social Welfare covered the focus activities to be done by various departments. The main focus of this years celebration is on male engagement in Poshan Abhiyan to improve nutritional levels of in consumption. EXCISE POLICY OF U.T., CHANDIGARH FOR THE YEAR 2020-21

Chandigarh, 6th March 2020: Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator U.T., Chandigarh Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore, after a detailed presentation by the Adviser, Secretary (E&T), ETC and other Senior Officers of the Excise Department, has approved new Excise Policy for the year 2020-21. The new Excise Policy aims at balancing the aspirations of the consumers, manufacturers, wholesalers/ retailers and the Government. Some of the salient features of this Policy are:- 1. The Excise Policy for the year 2020-21 would help to earn revenue approx. Rs. 680 crores in comparison with Rs. 617 crores for the year 2019-20, an increase of approximate 10% over the year 2019-20. 2. The allotment of licensing units will be made through complete e-tendering system for more transparency and complete online system for issuance of permit/passes to facilitate Trade and Industry has also been introduced. 3. Chandigarh.6th March,2020: The Department of Food & Supplies, UT, Chandigarh, transfers the monthly food subsidy amount, directly into the registered bank account of the registered beneficiaries.   The registered beneficiaries under Priority Households Category will get Rs. 125.46 per month/per member.   The registered Antodya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries will get Rs. 878.22 per family per month.   The subsidy amount is revised by Government of India from time to time.    The food subsidy amount for the month of March, 2020, has been made available for the registered beneficiaries of UT Chandigarh.   They are requested to check their registered bank account in this regard.   The beneficiaries can check the details of the registered bank account on the department’s website: www.chdfood.gov.in  Transparency portal  Check Aadhar/ Bank Link Status. Chandigarh.6th March,2020: A meeting   was held under the chairmanship of Sh.V.P.Badnore, Governor of Punjab and   Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh   today to review the preparedness for tackling the novel corona virus disease. The Chandigarh Administration has taken all measures with regard to containment measures being taken to avoid spread of said disease by setting up 24X7 helpline, dedicated ambulance and fully equipped isolation wards in all the three hospitals namely GMSH-16, GMCH-32& PGIMER. The awareness generation is being done at all levels among the public and hospital staff with regard to personal protection and safety measures.
