Chandigarh, 14th April, 2016: The 125 th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was celebrated by the Chandigarh Administration with huge fervor and a series of events were conducted at various locations throughout the city. To achieve maximum participation of youth and adults from villages, the administration carried out a display van at various villages beginning from Khuda Ali Sher, Kaimbwala, Kishangarh, Daria, Mauli Jagran, Raipur Kala/Makhanmajra, Raipur Khurd, Behlana, Khuda Jassu, Khuda Lahora and Sarangpur showcasing slogans and quotes of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. A short film on the life, contribution and achievements of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was also organized for the people of Dhanas village. Smt. Kriti Garg, IAS, SDM, South along with a team of officers from the Rural development department visited the villages, wherein an oath ceremony was conducted and people were enlightened about the contribution of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar towards the society.

Chandigarh, April 12 th , 2016 : The Government Multi Speciality Hospital Sector-16, Chandigarh has a Jan Aushadhi shop situated at the prime location for the convenience of the patients. Jan Aushadhi shop has been set up to provide generic drugs, which are available at lesser prices but are equivalent in quality and efficacy as expensive branded drugs. More than 1500 people are purchasing medicine from this Jan Aushadi shop every month. The shop is managed by Indian Red Cross Society, Chandigarh and is open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Chandigarh, 11 th   April, 2016 :   On the orders of Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner cum Estate officer, U.T. Chandigarh a demolition drive was conducted today in village Dhanas to remove the illegal religious structures existing on the government land which have been pending for a long time. The drive was carried out under the supervision of Sh. Prince Dhawan, IAS, SDM (C) and Sh. Amit Talwar, PCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh. Time and again the Administration has given notices for removal of such illegal structures but it went unheard, resulting to the drive. The structures which were illegally made on the public parks surrounding Dhanas mainly in the residential area were removed.   As a precautionary measure, more than 300 police persons were deputed during the drive.

Chandigarh, April 11 th , 2016 : Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary cum Secretary Health, U.T. Chandigarh today inaugurated various initiatives by Health Department and under the Rogi Kalyan Samiti scheme in Civil Hospital of Sector 22 in the presence of Sh. Prince Dhawan, IAS, SDM (C), Dr. Vanita Gupta, Director Health Services and other senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration and the Health Department. He inaugurated two new Dental Chairs in the department of Dentistry which are fully equipped with X-Ray and RVG and a Blood Storage Unit in the Civil Hospital, Sector-22.  Under the Rogi Kalyan Samiti scheme a NBSU (New Born Sick Unit) which has a resuscitation kit, 2 new baby warmers and Photo Therapy Unit were inaugurated by Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Home Secretary cum Secretary Health, U.T. Chandigarh. Under the same scheme he inaugurated 24x7 Snack Bar and a small counter which has essentials for newborns for the convenience of patients and their attendants...

Chandigarh, April 11 th , 2016 : It has been observed that the SIM card vendors in the city of Chandigarh are selling SIM cards of all cellular companies to the people without seeing the original ID’s of the purchasers and without getting the verification of the documents, physical verification of person’s address, done. The vendors issue SIM cards to the buyers by filling up Performa of the cellular company and the same is sent to the company. The company activates the SIM without making any physical verification of the documents/address of the customers. The SIM cards are sold to distributors by the cellular company and the distributor further sold these to shopkeepers without maintaining the record as to which numbers are sold to which shopkeeper. Further, the shopkeeper has kept vendors to sellout the SIM cards directly to the customers.                        ...

Multi-Speciality Hospital, Sector-16,Chandigarh and its allied dispensaries including Ayush Dispensaries, Civil Hospital Manimajra, Civil Hospital Sector-22, Chandigarh and Civil Hospital, Sector-45, Chandigarh except ESI-29 & ESI-23,U.T., Sectt., Punjab & Haryana Sectt. High Court Dispensaries will be 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM from 16 th April, 2016 to 15 th October, 2016. The timings of ESI Dispensaries-29& ESI -23, U.T., Sectt., Punjab & Haryana Sectt. and High Court Dispensaries will remain as before.

Chandigarh, 9 th    April, 2016 : As per the directions by the Hon’ble Justice Mr. Surya Kant, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh, the Labour Department, U.T., Chandigarh organized the National Lok Adalat, chaired by the Assistant Labour Commissioner-cum- Authority under various Labour Acts, today. The main objective of this National Lok Adalat was to relieve heavy burden on the Courts with pre-litigation/pending cases and to give relief to the litigants who were in a queue to get justice. For the purpose of awareness, the department called upon the meetings with representatives of employees’ and employers’ and their respective associations, trade unions to encourage and motivate workers and management to avail this remedial opportunity for speedy justice and for mutual settlement of disputes related to various labour laws such as ‘The Payment of Wages Act, 1936, The Minimum Wages Act, 1948, The Paym...

Narasimha, IAS, Secretary Rural Dev. & Panchayats, Chandigarh Administration regarding Celebration of 125 th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as Govt. of India has declared 14 th April as “Rashtriya Samrasta Divas” and proposed to undertake a ‘Gramodaya Se Bharat Udaya’ Abhiyan in all Gram Panchayats and Gram Sabhas from 14.04.2016 to 16.04.2016 which will be completed on 24.04.2016.  The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Chairperson, Zila Parishad, Chandigarh, Chairman, Panchayat Samiti, Chandigarh, Members of Zila Parishad/Panchayat Samiti, Sarpanches of U.T. villages, Representatives of Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh, Dr. B.R.
