2019 - Novel Corona Virus (nCoV)

COVID-19 or Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has been declared as Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) by World Health Organization (WHO) under International Health Regulation (IHR). Following are the steps taken by Chandigarh Health Department to tackle the Novel Corona virus (nCoV) threat:- Preparedness :- Isolation wards and ventilators are in place at all the 3 major hospitals of U.T. Chandigarh i.e. PGIMER, GMCH-32 and GMSH-16 & Adequate stock of Logistics is available with State Surveillance Unit and all the designated government hospitals. Community surveillance and contact tracing : - Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) cell is fully engaged in surveillance and contact tracing in community as well as surveillance of foreign guests from affected countries in Chandigarh hotels. Adviser presides over meeting of Heritage Items Protection Cell

Chandigarh, 5th March 2020: The first meeting of the reconstituted Heritage Item Protection Cell was held today under the Chairmanship of Sh.Manoj Parida,IAS,the Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh. The purpose was to take concrete measures to identify,protect,preserve,restore and reuse the heritage items such as furniture,tables,cabinets,chairsetc and formulate action plan in this regard. During the meeting representative of the Alliance Francaise informed that due to the efforts taken by Sh.Manoj Parida,IAS,a team of experts from France would be officially visiting Chandigarh in April 2020 to train our officials/people in matters concerning identification,preservation, protection and conservation of items having heritage value. An auto-generated SMS is sent on every successful payment and receipt of the payment can be downloaded instantly. NEW POLICY FOR PGs

Chandigarh, 28th February 2020: The Administrator today finalized a revised policy for PGs keeping in view the need for accommodation of students in private houses and the need for their safety and security.   In addition to the previous stipulations, certain new provisions have been added; such as mandatory Fire Clearance, Annual Renewal of License, Indemnity Certificate from PG owners etc.   It has been decided not to exempt the requirement of house owners staying in the PG accommodation.   However, shortly a new category of hostels will be introduced, where house owners can rent out buildings for hostels after meeting the statutory stipulations.
