Launch of myChandigarh Mobile app

Chandigarh, 4 February, 2016:   In sync with the administration commitment to provide public services “Anywhere, Anytime on Any device” Department of Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration today launched myChandigarh mobile application which is a gateway to the hub of smart mobile applications i.e City Bus Guide &   e-payment mobile app which were also launched today and integrated in myChandigarh app along with already running mSampark, RLA & e-campus mobile apps. Citizens can now access all smart 5 mobile apps by downloading myChandigarh app on their android base mobile phones.  The myChandigarh application was launched by Sh. Inspection of laboratories of Schools and Colleges

Chandigarh, 4 February, 2016:   Dr. Tapasya Raghav, IAS, SDM(E), U.T., Chandigarh along with Sh. Sunil Chaudhary, Drug Control Officer, Sh. Jasbir Singh, Drug Inspector and Ms Alka Mehta, Principal, Govt Model Senior Sec. School-26, Chandigarh  inspected the laboratories of the schools and colleges viz. St Kabir Public School-26, Stawberry High School-26, Sacred Heart Sr. Sec. School-26, Sh. Guru Gobind Singh College-26, Sh. Guru Gobind Singh College for Girls-26, Sh. Guru Gobind Singh School-26, Sh. Guru Gobind Singh Pharmacy College-26, for the proper handling and usage of stocks of Acids and corrosive substances in compliance of the orders of the Home Secretary, Chandigarh Administration dated 29.11.2013 and directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court promulgated in the case of Laxmi Vs UOI & Ors WP(Crl) 129 dt 18.04.2013 and have found the irregularities in the usage of Acid / corrosive substances.

Exhibition cum Screening camp at GMSH-16

Chandigarh, 4 February, 2016:   National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, CVDs and Strokes (NPCDCS), NHM, U.T., Chandigarh organized an Exhibition cum Screening camp at GMSH-16, Chandigarh in collaboration with Radiotherapy department, PGIMER on 4 th   Feb, 2016 from 9.00 AM to 2.00PM. This day was used as an opportunity for creating awareness about Cancer, its signs and symptoms, timely detection and its management. Thousands of peoples visited this Exhibition on Cancer Awareness at GMSH-16.

Legal Aid Clinics

Chandigarh, 4 February, 2016:   The National Legal Services Authority is committed to impart Legal Aid by establishing Legal Aid Clinics with the help of State Legal Services Authority in the entire village where people face geographical, social barriers for access to legal service institution.                          In this context, under the able guidance of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Shiavax jal Vazifdar, Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Punjab and Haryana –cum-Patron in Chief of State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh and Hon’ble Mr Justice Hemant Gupta, Judge, High Court of Punjab and Haryana-cum-Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, U.T, Chandigarh opened its another Legal Aid Clinic in Centre for Human Rights and Duties, Punjab University Chandigarh on 04.02.2016.

Enforcement Drive

Chandigarh, 3 February, 2016:  As per the orders of Deputy Commissioner, U.T Chandigarh, an enforcement drive was carried out under the supervision of Sh. Prince Dhawan, I.A.S, Sub Divisional Magistrate (Central), U.T., Chandigarh along with the teams comprising the concerned staff of Engineering and Electricity Wing of U.T., Chandigarh, Enforcement Wing of Municipal Corporation, U.T., Chandigarh, Tehsildar (Enforcement), U.T., Chandigarh and team of Civil Defence, U.T., Chandigarh. The enforcement drive was started in Sector-09, Chandigarh today at 07:00 A.M. The enforcement drive was conducted to remove illegal banners/hoardings/sign boards and the same were corrected as per architectural control of Sector-09. UT Further Reforms Social Protection

Chandigarh, 3 February, 2016:   The Chandigarh Administration is endeavoring to provide social security/financial assistance to widow and old age persons who are without any means of subsistence.  Widow/Old Age pension is being provided @ Rs. 500/- p.m. to those whose family income is up to Rs. 12000/- per annum.   It is seen that low rates of assistance discourage genuine needy people.  In order to achieve its basic objectives of social and economic uplift of the citizens, the Administration is constantly improving social security schemes to make them more realistic and  has  now decided to raise the amount of widow and old age pension from Rs 500/-  to Rs. 1000/- from next financial year and also raise the criteria of family income to Rs 1.50 lac annually  which is the same as that for the Priority households under National Foods Security Act who are eligible to get subsidy for food grains. Sale, Usage and Storage of Acid

Chandigarh, 2nd February, 2016:  In compliance of the orders of the Home Secretary issued vide public notice dated. 29.11.2013 regarding Sale, usage and storage of Acid, Dr Tapasya Raghav, IAS, SDM (East), Sh. Bhupesh Chaudhary, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Chandigarh along with a team of Drug Inspectors, Chandigarh conducted a surprise checking in Govt. Model Senior Secondary School Sec-26 and Govt. Model Senior Secondary School Sec-27 and found out that since there is no laboratory in Sec-26 School, no acid has been found.  GMSSS Sec-27 has been found using acids in their laboratories and there was no stock register as mandatory to be maintained for such usage and storage of acid, so they have been directed to maintain the stock register for usage of Acid in their laboratories henceforth and send the fortnightly report in the office of the SDM(E), U.T., Chandigarh. 

World Cancer day-4th Feb, 2016

Chandigarh, 2 February, 2016:   National Programme for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, CVDs and Strokes (NPCDCS), NHM, U.T., Chandigarh proposes to organize an Exhibition cum Screening Camp at GMSH-16, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Radiotherapy unit, PGIMER on 4 th   Feb, 2016 from 9.00 A.M to 2.00 P.M. Drive For Anti Encroachment

Chandigarh, 2 February, 2016:   Dr Tapasya Raghav, IAS, SDM (East)-cum- Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh along with enforcement team and flying squad team has conducted drive for anti encroachment in Sadar Bazar, Sector-19, Chandigarh, wherein 70 challans have been issued and loaded three trucks and seized articles. Dr Tapasya Raghav, IAS, SDM (East)-cum- Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh further informed that such drives would be continued in near future for removal of encroachment in her jurisdiction.

Solar Power Camps

Chandigarh, 31 January, 2016:     CREST & Department of Science & Technology, Chandigarh Administration & Yuvsatta-an NGO organized two successful ‘Solar Power Camps’ for city residents. One was at Khuda Ali Sher village and second one at Community Centre of Sector 8A, Chandigarh. Sh. Santosh Kumar, IFS Director, Department of Science & Technology and CEO, CREST was the Chief Guest at both the places, where he shared technical details of installing rooftop solar power plants with city residents along with information about available 30% subsidy and easy bank finance options. Sharing his views Sh. Santosh Kumar, IFS said that Chandigarh Administration is totally dedicated in development of solar rooftop projects in the city. The administration has already successfully installed about 6.2 MW of rooftop solar photovoltaic plants in the city on 128 government buildings.  

Day two of Open Auction of vehicle registration numbers

Chandigarh, 31 January, 2016:    The Registering and Licensing Authority, U.T., Chandigarh conducted an Open Auction of vehicle registration numbers for the series ‘CH-01-BF’ from vehicle numbers 0101 to 9999 on Day 2 dated 31.01.2016. A total of 335 numbers were successfully bid on Day 2, with a total bid amount of Rs.30,33,000/-.                    The number CH-01-BF-9000 fetched the highest amount i.e. Rs. 71,000/- in today’s auction, CH-01-BF-4444 for Rs. 65,000/-, and CH01-BF-1111 for Rs. 60,000. The total amount fetched in Day 1 and Day 2 is Rs. 91, 12,000/-.

Photo Exhibition at Sukhna Lake

Chandigarh, 31 January, 2016:   Sh. Santosh Kumar, IFS Director, Department of Science and Technology, UT inaugurated the Photo exhibition at Sukhna Lake. The exhibition is organised by Centre for Swami Vivekananda Studies (PU) , Natural Biodiversity in collaboration with Hobby Development Association.               The exhibition is showcasing Avian, Reptilian and Mammalian fauna and besides that highlighting the concern of climate change. Prof. Nandita Singh chief coordinator informed that it is a collaborative effort based on the vision of Swami Vivekananda with focus on Environment and climate.
