Safeguards for the linguistic minorities

Chandigarh, 23 rd March, 2016: The safeguards for the linguistic minorities derive their authority from two sources: The Constitution of India. The Safeguards agreed to the national level from time to time. CONSTITUTIONAL SAFEGUARDS FOR LINGUISTIC MINORITIES IN INDIA Any section of the citizens residing in the territory of India or any part thereof having a distinct language, script, or culture of its own shall have the right to conserve the same. No citizen shall be denied admission into any educational institution maintained by the State or receiving aid out of State funds on grounds only of religion, race, caste, language or any of them.

Annual Art Exhibition 2015-16

Chandigarh, 22 nd  March, 2016:  The Annual Art Exhibition 2015-16 by Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi was inaugurated at Punjab Kala Bhawan today. H.E. Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, Haryana and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh was the chief guest and Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator was the guest of honor on this occasion.  Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, Sh. Jitender Yadav, Director Cultural Affairs, Bibi Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson Punjab Arts Council and Sh. Bheem Malhotra, Chairman, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi was also present at the event. The evening began with a presentation that showcased the activities undertaken by the Akademi in past one year. Chandigarh Celebrates World TB Day 2016

Chandigarh, 22 nd March 2016: The World TB Day was inaugurated today at CD-CITCO by today Dr. Vandana Gupta, Medical Superintendent of GMSH-16, Chandigarh. She said that the chain of infection spreading TB has been broken and we are on our way to control TB from Chandigarh. World Tuberculosis Day is globally celebrated on 24 th March every year to commemorate the discovery of tubercular bacillus by Dr. Robert Koch. This discovery is a milestone in the history of tuberculosis. Koch’s discovery opened new vision towards diagnosing and curing tuberculosis. She further said that awareness about symptoms of TB, availability of diagnosis and free treatment has been generated due to which there has been a considerable decline in incidence of TB in Chandigarh. Having treated more than 30,000 TB patients, Health Deptt. has been able to contain the spread of TB and is working hard to eliminate the disease from the soil of City Beautiful. Review meeting held for Smart City Proposal

Chandigarh, 22 nd March, 2016 : In a meeting held today at U.T guest house under the chairmanship of Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T Chandigarh revised proposal regarding the Smart City proposal was discussed in detail. The French delegation along with senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration was also present in the meeting. The meeting focused at taking inputs from the delegation and officers that could help in creating a strong and effective smart city proposal which is likely to be submitted before 15 th April 2016 to the MoUD. The presentation was shown by AIECOM that encompassed all the information about the proposal. The discussion aimed at improving the quality of life of the citizens of City Beautiful. Positive and negative aspects were taken into consideration for making the City smart. It was shared that the City is the center of active lifestyles; test bed for start ups, has unique historical background and has progressive future.

Meeting to Review the Midday Meal Scheme

Chandigarh, 21 st   March, 2016 :- A meeting was held today under chairmanship of Worthy Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS regarding the review of Midday Meal Scheme Implementation. The meeting was attended by Sh. Sarvjit Singh, IAS, Finance Secretary cum Secretary Education, Smt. Bhawana Garg, IAS, Special Secretary Finance, Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, PCS, Director School Education, Principals from AIHM & CIHM, Manager CITCO and the team of Education Department. The meeting was held to get the annual work plan budget approvals from the Adviser to the Administrator with regard to the midday meal scheme.
