National Lok Adalat to be Held On 14th May 2016

Chandigarh, 13th May, 2016 : District Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh, is organizing monthly National Lok Adalat at District Court Complex on 14 th May 2016, as per directions of the National Legal Services Authority, 12 benches have been constituted. The cases under the Motor Accident claims and Insurance Claims as well as Traffic Challans shall be taken up in this monthly National Lok Adalat starting from 9:30 A.M. People from general public have been asked to avail maximum benefits from the monthly National Lok Adalat.

Launch of “Mobile Anganwadi Van”

Chandigarh, 12 th May, 2016: The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development in another initiative today launched the “ Mobile Anganwadi Van ” which has been converted into an Anganwadi Centre. The Van was flagged off by Smt. Bhawana Garg, IAS, Secretary Social Welfare, Women & Child Development along with Smt. Nishu Singal, HCS, Director Social Welfare, Women & Child Development . Commenting during the launch, Smt. Nishu Singal, HCS, Director Social Welfare, Women & Child Development said that the Anganwadi centre will cater to the needs of the Children of Labour Class near PGI construction site and the Van would be stationed at the site.

Flag off ceremony of Mountaineering Expedition

Chandigarh, 12 th May, 2016: In a first of its kind initiative in the country the Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development Chandigarh Administration in association with the Indian Mountaineering Foundation will be sending 60 specially abled and 60 women on a Mountaineering Course/ Expedition to 4 peaks ranging 5500m -6000m height in the Indian Himalayas . Hon'ble Prime Minister of India has also launched "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" Scheme for the empowerment of Women and this initiative of Social Welfare Department in conducting this course for women and persons with disability shall be a morale booster and will also help in creating confidence amongst participant Women & Persons with Disabilities of UT Chandigarh. The selections were held on the 7 th and 8 th of May 2016 at MCM DAV College 76 specially abled candidates and 135 women participated in the selection process which consisted of physical tests like Running and climbing the rock wall....

Review Meeting held regarding International Yoga Day

Chandigarh, 12 th May, 2016 : A meeting was held today at the U.T. Secretariat under the chairmanship of Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh to review the preparations being done for the celebration of International Yoga Day to be held in Chandigarh on 21st June, 2016. Sh. Sarvjit Singh, IAS, Finance Secretary, U.T., Chandigarh, Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, U.T., Chandigarh, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, U.T., Chandigarh and other senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration were present during the meeting. Representatives of Patanjali Yogapeeth, Art of Living, Isha Foundation and other Yoga centric organizations were also a part of the meeting. Yoga Orientation Programme kickstarts in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 12 th May, 2016: The Yoga Orientation Programme began today at the Cricket Stadium in Sector-16, Chandigarh from 6:00 am to 7:00 am as part of the upcoming International Yoga Day celebrations to be held on 21 st June, 2016 Chandigarh. Certified yoga instructors and experts were imparted training as per the 45 minutes yoga protocol, chalked out by the Ministry of AYUSH for the main event. The yoga experts who attended the session have been teaching yoga in schools, colleges and institutes. Distribution of Water Purifiers To Anganwari Workers

Chandigarh, 12th May, 2016 : Bharat Prakarsh Foundation, an NGO working in the field of Education and Health provided Tata Swatch Water purifiers for 255 Anganwadi Centres today during a programme (Swactch Bharat Mission) held at Bal Bhawan, Sector 23, Chandigarh. The Chief Guest of the function was Smt. Bhawana Garg, Secretary Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Smt. Nishu Singal, Director Social Welfare, Women and Child Development was also present in the function. Secretary Social Welfare commended the efforts of the NGO and said that this would ensure clean potable water for all anganwadi children and beneficiaries of 500 Anganwadi centres. National Technology Day at T S Central State Library

Chandigarh, 11 th   May, 2016: T S Central State Library Sector 17, today celebrated National Technology Day.  On this occasion Er Tanvir Singh, President Green Thinkerz Society delivered a talk on ‘Gadget Addiction: Its Health Implications”. He said that mobiles have become an integral part in today’s times. And in time of technological revolution its sustainable use is necessity for all and sundry. Practical demonstration on the radiations on the use of cell phones was also shown. He urged the audience that one should be careful while purchasing cell phones and should go through its complete details.  An interactive session followed thereafter. Another member of the society spoke on the importance of water and told the audience about their project “Keemti Boond”. Yoga Orientation Programme to be held in Chandigarh

As a part of the upcoming National level International Yoga Day celebrations to be held on 21st June, 2016 in Chandigarh, a yoga orientation programme is being organized for certified yoga instructors and experts from 11th to 13th May, 2016 at the Cricket Stadium in Sector-16, Chandigarh from 6:00 am to 7:00 am in the morning. The orientation programme is being conducted to impart training to the yoga masters as per the 45 minutes yoga protocol that has been chalked out by the Ministry of AYUSH. For the National level celebrations, Ministry of AYUSH has appointed various institutes for different cities of the country. PATANJALI YOGPEETH has been officially appointed by Government of India to coordinate and assist Chandigarh Administration in organizing the grand event of Yoga Day. Inter-Departmental Transfers of Chandigarh Administration employees

Chandigarh, 10 th May, 2016: In a recent development, more than 300 employees of the Chandigarh Administration, which includes the superintendents, senior assistants, junior scale stenographer, steno typists and clerks have been transferred to different departments, societies and wings of the Chandigarh Administration. These employees have been transferred/posted in various departments under the Inter-Departmental Transfer Policy of the Chandigarh Administration. The transferred officers and officials have been ordered to hand over or take over the charges before 11.05.2016 afternoon.

Meeting Held Regarding Arranging Big Accommodations for AWCs

Chandigarh, 10 th May, 2016: Smt. Nishu Singhal, Director Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration held a meeting with all the Sarpanches of 13 villages of Chandigarh at her office regarding arranging big accommodation for AWCs in Dharmshala, community centres and private houses in the villages. They were intimated about other schemes of the Department and loans facility by the SCBC & Min. Development Corporation and Women and Child Development. It was decided that a meeting of Sarpanches, Panches and Members of Zila Parshid will be held on 20 th May, 2016 at Senior Citizen Home, Sector 43, Chandigarh to make them familiar with all the schemes of the department as well as other flagships programmes being undertaken by the department.

Mountaineering Expedition and Training For Women Candidates

Chandigarh, 8th May, 2016: Chandigarh Administration in association with Indian Mountaineering Foundation is organising a mountaineering expedition and training for women candidates. The first expedition will be flagged off by the Governor of Punjab and Haryana and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, H.E. Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki on 13th May 2016, and the course will start from the 14th May at Manali , Himachal Pradesh.
