Registered Households get Subsidy for October under DBT Scheme

Chandigarh, 24 th October 2019: The DBT Scheme for foodgrains has been implemented from the month of September, 2015 in UT Chandigarh and Territory became the first UT/State to implement such scheme in the country. Under this scheme, the food subsidy in the form of cash is being transferred directly into Aadhar seeded bank accounts of the eligible households/ beneficiaries based on their entitlement for foodgrains under the NFSA and the beneficiaries are free to purchase foodgrains of their choice and from any place. The main aim of this Direct Benefit Transfer scheme is to bring transparency and terminate any kind of pilferage from distribution of food grains by crediting subsidies into bank accounts of the beneficiaries and give freedom to the beneficiaries to purchase foodgrains from the open market as per choice. Chandigarh, 24 th October 2019: Wildlife week is observed during the first week of October all over the country, with the objective of raising awareness among masses for conservation of Wildlife and its habitat. ‘Plastic ka time up’ Campaign at Government Home Science College

Chandigarh,24th October 2019:The Environment Society, Harita, of Government Home Science College today organized ‘Plastic Free Chandigarh Campaign’ to create awareness about the ill-effects of the use of plastics. The students highlighted the toxic chemicals that leach out of plastic and harmful effects of its exposure to human health. In sync with the National/ Chandigarh Administration initiative on ban on one time use plastic, student volunteers sensitized the people of the better alternatives than plastic that can be used in our day to day lives. The occasion was also marked by the poster making and slogan writing competitions in which more than 100 students participated. The campaign was sponsored by State Bank of India, Sector-10, Chandigarh. The Regional Manager SBI Mr. Rajesh Gupta was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Foundation stone laid for community centres in Sector 21 & Ram Darbar

Chandigarh, 21st October 2019: Member of Parliament, Chandigarh, Smt. Kirron Kher laid the foundation stone of modern community centre each in Sector 21 and Ram Darbar today which are reconstructed after dismantling the old structures. These community centres would be the best of its kind in the city covering 20552 sq.ft.area in Sector-21 and 18413 Sq.ft in Ram Darbar.These would be constructed at a cost of   approximately Rs 5.80 crore in Sector 21 and Rs.5.29 Crore in Ram Darbar. The community centres will have a main hall, an office, a kitchen, and separate toilets for men and women, Library and Gymnasium. Mayor Chandigarh, Sh. Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders Week concluded at GMCH-16

Chandigarh, 21st October 2019: The ' Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders Week ' concluded today with an quiz competition at SIHFW, Govt Multi Speciality Hospital Sector 16 Chandigarh, today. An exhibition on Goitre and IDD was conducted wherein posters , handbills and informative literature on IDD was displayed and on the spot testing of Iodizied salt was done to check the iodine content of salt used by the people. Director Health Services, Dr G. Dewan , Chandigarh advocated that going by the efforts of the department, Chandigarh has   achieved non - endemic status i.e pevelance rate of IDD has fallen below 3.4%. Our goal is that by 2024 it has to be brought down to less than 2%.
