Chandigarh, 18 th May, 2018: The final round of inter-school quiz competition on Dadra & Nagar Haveli was organised today by the Education Department, U.T., Chandigarh at Govt. Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18-C, Chandigarh. Total 72 teams had participated in the 1 st round of the quiz that was held on 17 May 2018. Top 5 teams of the written round qualified for the 2 nd and final round. Manav Mangal-21 bagged 1 st position. D.A.V.-15 & Saupins-32 secured 2 nd & 3 rd position respectively. The winning teams were awarded with cash prizes and certificates by Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, PCS, Director School Education in the presence of Ms. Saroj Mittal, DDSE, Ms. Anujit Kaur, D.E.O & Mr. Vikram Rana, S.L.O. Shivalik Public School-41 & Govt. High School, Daddu Majra were also given consolation cash prizes and participation certificates.

Chandigarh, 18 th  May, 2018: It has come to the notice that many persons indulged in the trade of fruit wholesale/retail in Chandigarh are practicing artificial ripening of fruits by excessive use of chemicals and are also keeping a substantial stock of such artificially ripened fruits. This practice is definitely injurious to the health of the community/general public. Therefore, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, I.A.S., District Magistrate, Chandigarh, exercising the power conferred u/s 133 of the Cr. P.C., do hereby, prohibit the use of chemicals for artificial ripening of   fruits as well as the keeping/storing any amount of stock of such artificially ripened fruits, within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh. Further, it is ordered that all the S.D.M.s of Chandigarh, within their jurisdiction, shall conduct regular checking/inspections of the storage spaces/places used by the wholesalers /retailers of the fruits or the places where such a practice of use of chemicals is apprehend...
