Chief Electoral Officer holds meeting regarding the Special Summary Revision (intensive) of the Photo Electoral Rolls   2 August 2019. Chandigarh : A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Chief Electoral Officer- cum- Finance Secretary, Chandigarh with the representatives of Political Parties regarding the Special Summary Revision (intensive) of the Photo Electoral Rolls. It was emphasized that the special summary revision will begin with the improvement in health of Electoral roll from 1st August 2019 to 31st August 2019 wherein removal of logical errors will be done. An Electors Verification Programme (EVP) will be run to encourage citizens to authenticate existing elector details by giving a copy of any of the mentioned documents like Indian Passport, Dirivng License, Aadhar, Ration Card or any other document approved by the Commission.        In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 357 A of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act 2 of 1974) and in   compliance to the directions given by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India vide order dated 11.05.2018 in Writ Petition (C) No.565/2012 titled as Nipun Saxena Vs. Union of India & Ors., and in view of key directions/guidelines laid down by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (C) No.754/2016 titled as Tehseen S.Poonawalla Vs.
