5th April 2017: The Excise Policy,
2017-18 was approved by the Chandigarh Administration at the end of the month
of March, 2017. In the Policy, the allotment of retail sale liquor licences
(L-2/L- 14A) is a major activity as the department gets major part of the
excise revenue from the retail sale liquor licenses, directly in the form of
licence fees and indirectly in the form of various excise levies. This
allotment of retail sale liquor licenses is an annual affair.
Tenders were invited for the grant
of L-2/L-14A licenses in the form of licensing units for the Excise Policy,
2017-2018. Resulting, 53 vends out of 77 were allotted successfully. Against
the reserve price of 138.98 crores, bids have been received for Rs 170.86
crores giving an increase of 23%. Nearly 170.86 crores has been achieved
against the target of 202 crores.
